If you want revenge, get the media involved. They absolutely love stories (that sound) like that, no matter the details (such as that legal loophole). Should the story get viral, the public would almost certainly boycott the company and send you excessive donations "to help make ends meet" even if it'd be way more than you needed.

I hate the alarmist media with a passion, but why not manipulate it for profit? I can think of several reasons, actually, it being a pretty morally gray thing to do, so consider carefully if you actually want to do it.

Realize that you have the power and opportunity to ruin your wife's former employer, and use it wisely.

Climate

Shouldn't the rising sea-levels cancel out the oceanic acidification by dilution?

EDIT:
And peak oil will cancel out rising emissions

Peak oil will only mean more desperate and destructive extraction methods, such as the tar sands.

I honestly question why we don't just use hydrogen-oxygen combustion engines. Sure they wouldn't be as strong or efficient, but they basically are just a machine for converting water into the same water and energy for doing things, a resource we're unlikely ever to run out of.

Other than the fact that it takes vastly more energy to get the hydrogen than you get out of it, and would make global warming vastly worse as a result?

No. Not even close. They've already decreased their Ph by .1 from what I can tell, and are expected to drop by another .2 in the near future. And considering the difference between pure water and 'all aquatic life is dead' is 2.5 points, .3 is a hell of a lot.

Between the heat and the acidity, most coral reefs are expected to die out in the next 30-40 years. 20% already have. (as of 2010 at least; it's likely closer to 25%-30% today, based on their estimates at the time)

Uuuugh....

It's peak season.  We're in the middle of a big project that's going to hit its most critical point tomorrow.  I neglected work all weekend in favor of dealing with personal issues.  Someone called in sick for tomorrow in addition to the person who was already scheduled off.  Now I have to go in two hours early to cover.  So I've probably got a frantic 12 hour day ahead.

It takes the same amount of energy in electricity form, so slightly more when factoring in for loss.

And obviously the electricity would be generated with nuclear or renewables, unless you're an idiot.

In other words, hydrogen is good when you have excess electricity, otherwise you're better off using biofuel or whatever.

Or, you could use petrol, and save time, money, and effort. This is obviously what's going to happen unless you have a government that isn't publicly traded.

I was skeptical until you got to this point.

You're not sceptical of publicly-traded government?

No, I'm mostly aware of it. I don't like it, but I don't really know the right kind of insurrection to arrange to change it without either dying or violating what I believe in; sanctity of human life, etc.

Killing the pieces of shit responsible would just be another atrocity on the long list of the ones they've perpetrated, but also the only way to really prevent them from becoming relevant.
