They're burning down an entire state? Gee, that is pretty free. :P

Nah, just parts of it. And it is free, since these are the fairly standard summer wild fires and it probably didn't cost anything to set them off. Probably costing a hell of a lot after that, but still.

It doesn't seem very sensible to stick your capital city in the middle of a place that randomly catches fire, though.

... they mostly didn't? East coast doesn't have as much issues with wildfires as the west, at the moment. Washington state is not the District of Columbia.

But it isn't in an area that regularly catches fire :V

Washington state is on the opposite side of the country from Washington DC.

semi-ninja'd by Frump, but whatever.

The fires are just trying to get people to correct this, one way or another.

People wishing for summer aren't sensible. I told them all winter long, 'you'll be sorry when summer comes along and it's mercilessly hot like a climatefucker' and lo and behold it's hot like a climatefucker. Excessive amounts of wildfires all over the damn place.

A thunderstorm is occurring in our area today.
It has high wind gusts...and heavy rain!
Oh goodness I'm upstairs too!
This is terrifying!
UPDATE: Now it's even HAILING! Please, this is TERRIFYING! I'm alone... so terrifying!
I hope I can live through this.

The thunderstorm round my area's been weird, coming and going. Still, the heavy rain is quite calming.

Washington state is on the opposite side of the country from Washington DC.
That is also not very sensible.

What's silliest is that the folks in Washington DC refused to allow any state to be named after a president until Washington got a state named after him, but also refused to name any state after Washington despite constantly going back to the argument, until they hit the west coast. The U.S is full of silly names, though.

Also, the east coast is generally quite moist, it doesn't burn much. The entire western third of the nation from top to bottom is a tinderbox every summer.

Well, even if the entire state went up in flames, all we'd have to do is wait for winter when the sky turns into a giant sieve above which lies the infinite plane of rainwater.

Summer here is usually pretty pleasant, though.
