How can someone just decide to completely stop practicing hygiene?

I asked my mom about the unhygienic person I mentioned earlier, and she said that the person has pretty much stopped looking after themselves. They don't bathe, and have been wearing the same outfit since at least the beginning of the new year's day. Hasn't washed it once either.

The smell is a multitude of things. Not bathing, not washing their clothes, and not even washing their hands after using the washroom. They may not even wipe after taking a shit. Don't know, but I know they don't flush. Even in other people's houses. Even in their client's houses.

They clean houses for a living. How could someone keep their job like that? This person may be the least hygienic person I know.

It sounds like they might've had some sort of serious emotional crisis (for lack of better words) or something.

Ech, as I said, I know one person who did for philosophical reasons. Our ancestors didn't shower or bathe, and they survived just fine.

Everything he touched would have a mark left on it from his hands. His nails were pure black, and his hair was more grease than follicles.

Said he liked the feeling of it, and that the grease made the hair stiff enough that he could style it much more easily, since it would generally stay in whatever position he molded it into.
