Yeah, people talk about Dyson Sphering our sun, but fuck that, what about Dyson Sphering a star like VY Canis Majoris? Oh god, I feel optimal just thinking about it. So what if Majoris is one letter from Majora's? I chose to believe it means nothing.

VY Canis Majoris is not the largest known star. We've known larger for 3 years. It's the fourth largest, right after NML Cygni, Westerlund 1-26 and UY Scuti.

VY Canis Majoris would not be an optimal star to dyson sphere. Its mass is only 21 times that of the sun. Its density is ludicrously small, so it wouldn't be efficient.

You would need so much matter for that it's not even funny.

On the derailed topic of cool space shit, I just found out that voids are a thing. Voids are vasts spaces of nothing in space. No matter, no dark matter, less than 1/10 of the typical amount of matter in a space of space. The Bootes Void is 250 million light years in diameter. The biggest void found so far is 1 billion light years in diameter.

I want to fly a space ship into that shit. Can you imagine that? Can you imagine the sheer dark nothingness surrounding the ship? It's crazy.

I'm pretty sure that that is the most boring thing in the universe.

A fact which itself is interesting, so I'm glad I learned it.

I imagine going through it would be the space travel equivalent of a sensory deprivation tank.

The next image cancels out the terrifying though.

Is that a sock? A sock for dogs?

As for Rome: The power struggles brought about by Christianity were just another pile of problems onto the breakdown of structure happening for other reasons. It definitely didn't help though.

Socks or booties are highly recommended for walking dogs in populated areas in the winter. The cold/ice/salt is a bad combo and can rather damage the pads of their paws.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

The rumors on /r/russia at the moment are that Putin died of a stroke and Moscow's generals have launched a coup. Of course, it is Russia, so conspiracy theories are flying everywhere...

I don't particularly like the man, but for Russia's sake, I hope he's alright.
