HOW IS THE SIMS 2 FRIGHTENING
besides the soulless eyes

While Fniff has an interesting approach that is scary in it's own right, it's not a kind of thing that would move me much.

Sims scare me on a purely existential level.

If they wish to do something with their life, they must constantly be pushed in the right direction. The moment they are allowed to relax, it is guaranteed they will turn to a sedentary lifestyle complete with midnight fridge raiding and binge eating. The Sims is min-maxing at it's best. Or rather, it's worst. It's either swim or sink down, far down bellow but not even hitting rock bottom, oh no! THAT would actually mean something. Not swimming means a lifetime of inadequacy. A dull, dreadful existence in grey non-importance. And the other end of the stick? A constant unrelentless drive towards your perfect life goal, towards perfection, towards CONFORMITY, all the while staying in near permanent state of ritualism. And you ARE always pressured to succeed, pressured to succeed. Because one small misstep, one bad school grade, one wrong career choice and BAM!, you are back to square one. OR WORSE. And you are always out of time, always out of gorram time. Years pass like days and it's not even suggested but out right mandatory to reach out to life-extending drugs just to make ends meet.

Sims are the face of hyper-consumerist instant-culture. And the face is bloated and disfigured by the fast food, everyday chemicals and sheer power of TV-commercials-delivered brain-power diminishing.

It's enough to send a grown man weeping in a corner with a full force of pre-middle age crisis.





Then again, I might have misjudged that game because I always played it with every single possible Sim being personally micromanaged by me all the time, even though I had free will turned on. I just don't trust those fuckers with their life.

I heard the most terrifying sound I ever heard the other day, while walking home late after visiting a relative.
Like in some horror movies, where this guy running through a fog and the sound of a woman screeching or something.
The sound of a harpy or a banshee.

Turns out it was just a train stopping at the local train station.
I fear that sound will haunt me for the rest of my life.
