I have no idea if it's an AI quirk or a generated effect. Maybe the wanderer's ambusher skill plays a part? Unsure what sort of skill level they get generated with.

Not always. It seems like possibly the only traveling hazard that isn't reliably spotted until it ambushes you. You instead have to hope for that tracking via scent and trails, sniff out either "bug innards" or "cooked flesh" as I've encountered night trolls smelling like either.

Now if only camping NPCs could generate the same smell message to represent cooking, just to give the player a cat scare. :V
The trolls themselves? or is their perchance to make bug paste?

I mean the scent message for night trolls can be either cooked flesh OR bug innards, and it's weird that cooked flesh isn't a smell that shows up naturally. o3o

One of my adventurers took a glancing arrow to the head and a broken foot neither of these, at least as I can remember, caused any nerve, ligament, or tendon damage, however it has been months in game since those injuries and when I look at my character the "head" and "left ankle" metrics on the right are yellow still, despite no recent re-injury. I noticed one of my companion's ear is also still "mangled beyond recognition" (and red on the screen) even though that happened a week or so ago. When I look at my character's health tab it lists that there are wounds to his head's fat, muscle, and skin, as well as his left ankle's muscle, but doesn't say anything about what kind of wounds. Also my companion continues to shout out things like "can it all end so quickly" in the middle of town, so I'm going to guess that her wound is still considered "fresh". My question is what effect, if any do these "wounds" have, do they indicate that there are some slight albeit permanent injuries, or are they simply glitches? Also is there any way to heal her ear so she'll stop being so dramatic?

Cooked flesh, is not common cooked meat, but some certain types of meat.

Well you can use DFHACK's full-heal on her, then EVERYTHING about her will be healed, including awesome scars(  :'().

True. It might make more sense for instances of casualties by fire instead, though in the case of both fire deaths AND campfires "smoke" might be the more plausible scent message the game oughta have.

Has anyone figured out exactly what the "Focused" and "Focused!" statuses do?

A roman emperor made his horse a noble, cause he could.
And I modded them all out of existence, because I could.

Tombs, libraries, sewers, hamlets, hillocks, bandit camps, necro towers.
