Crap. Oh well. Went down back messed up the goblins that crippled me. 11 more notable kills before I went down.
You could have just retired...

Yeah, i once dodged into a pit full of angry gobbos.
3 z-levels down
Yeah, i took a few turns before i realized i could simply retire.
When i "reclaimed" my adventurer, i realized he was missing 3 limbs.

EDIT:

My question:

Can weapons get names in adventure mode?
I have this really nifty goblin right upper leg, and it would be epic if it got a name.

EDIT2:
Btw, just a tip, you should edit your kicks to make them inject harmless steam when they kick, it gives an awesome effect.

EDIT3:
Nvm, it doesnt matter, the leg is burning up ;_;

Oh, nvm the nvm, i managed to drop the leg (i was flying), pick it back up and sleep.
Now its not burning anymore :D

Yes. But I was also roleplaying a bit, the adventurer left companions down in that dungeon and had to go back and see if any of them had survived and attempt to complete his mission. It was going pretty well, throwing swords from the shadows. But then suddenly it turned out I wasn't just mopping up the wounded. The leader spotted me and burst out of the shadows with about 6 fresh soldiers (That little room was like a Goblin Clown Car). I couldn't get away fast enough and took a pair of unlucky flail hits to the skull.

I have a quest to kill a dwarf vampire, and he seems to be located in a dwarf fortress in the mountains (an upper-case omega). Does he exist, or is he findable? As fortresses don't actually exist, I think (I'm using 34.07).

No. Closest thing you can do is start a fortress with that civilization, hope he comes to your fort, and station him in the magma chamber.

Do the three default races (human, elf, dwarf) have any difference in their ability to sneak, regardless of skill level? Or does the race not matter, only the skill.

Mostly the skill matters. However, the races are different in their attributes.

Spoiler: attribute comparison (click to show/hide)

The ambusher skill is associated with agility, focus, kinesthetic sense and spatial sense (thanks, wiki). Thus, average elves are better ambushers than average humans or average dwarfs.

Not from the wild. You need to find them in bags in town or mod in reactions to create them.

Hm, have you considered murder?  It's either that or letting it go.

No, but your stats will deteriorate until you feed again.

Quick question from a newer Adventure mode player:

What areas save items and stuff in them? I'm assuming towns, forts, lairs, and such do, but I want to be sure before leaving my very large stash of goods behind.

Every area saves stuff, but items usually get scattered. Towns, villages, forts, lairs, towers, tombs and camps prevent scattering.

Camps scatter stuff.  The only one I know doesn't scatter stuff is lairs.

Only vaguely. Made of the same substance and put to the same use, but a bit like comparing a castle and a doublewide trailer.
