skill at fighting gets you through the caverns to the treasure. Skill at map making gets you back home

Speaking of map making, is there any good way to automate said map making to make it easier to find my way there and back again?

My method would be screen recording -- maybe with camtasia or hypercam. I would then retrace by using the video. Another method is just numbering and saving screenshots in a specific folder.

Advice on this would be greatly appreciated, as I want to do some searching for Fun houses as well.

I also have two questions:

Do military named artifacts get artifact weapon BTH like mood artifact weapons?

Does shield density only affect shield bashing?

I used to play heaven and hearth, and there was a downloadable mapper for exactly this. It took screen shots, well, map shots, every so often and just paste it in where it would fit (travel wasnt always logical) it used combinations of terrain, elevation, rivers/roads and more to finish it off, but it was very workable

Jam a door with its corpse and let all the goblins in. Hey, nobody said it had to be a weapon against your enemies.

Just a minor question. I was playing with the Genesis Mod, and I found some meteoric gauntlets. They sounded cool, so I put them on. Later, I traded one of my 16+ pairs of magabeast underpants for some steel greaves, and I'm wondering: Which one's better? Meteoric or steel?

How do I shot boots to my feet? It tells I have nothing left to wear, is it because they have no left/right tags?
Also, even with my quiver full of arrows/bolts on and only bow/crossbow in hands I cannot shoot (You have nothing left to fire).
Also, wrestling thing. I grab the opponent with my hand and try to throw him, it keeps like "You adjust your grip".

You adjust your grip means you aren't strong/skilled enough to throw them, usually because they're larger than you.

So Im not the best adventurer, in fact I just started playing this mode last week. Earlier today, for the first time ever I got a quest to kill dragon. Now you could imagine my excitement only on the way there goblins ambushed me with this gigantic army. And I died. And this happened to me again on another file.

How do I avoid these things?

The more companions you have, the more goblins you get.

I'd suggest just training your skills more, goblins are easy enough to handle when you get skilled and equipped.

you can train up your observer skill and try to spot ambushs.
geting some good back up is the best way to fight off an ambush.

old adventurers are the best but any one with armor and a weapon will do.
just dont get ranged weapon users as there crap and turn super carp when the arrows run out.

Also, until I figure out where to get armor that fits, I can not normally play as dorf/elf.

Ok, thanks.  Personally bow users have been pretty useful (usually make sure I have one or two) for weakening the target or slowing him down for me. How do I get a "named" follower?

You can hire adventurers to follow you if you go to a site and choose to retire them there in the options menu.
Followers will be named for scoring kills on historical figures too.
