Adventure Mode Little Questions Thread
« on: November 27, 2010, 03:33:30 pm »

Seeing as how we have alot of new adventure players due to the new combat system and such, and they are starting threads for smaller things, I decided to start up my own little questions thread! So if you have any questions about how things work or how to do certain things, ask away.

Twisting an embedded weapon. I'm still not clear on how this is done.

If you see your weapon is stuck inside an enemy press the movement key in that enemies direction and you will twist it.

Armok needs blood, I just do it with picks.

On a similar note, what the heck does it do?
Checking before and after the twist, it doesn't seem like it causes much bleeding or pain, if any.

Also, is it just me or are adamantine weapons really awful?  I picked up a short sword from my old fortress and started using it to hack up the goblins and trolls and such, but it seems like it can't cut anything at all if there's the slightest bit of armor blocking it.  For example, I had one troll unconscious, and I was trying to slash his leg off, but could only bruise the fat at best.  After pulling his cloak and robe off, I was able to cut it off in one slice.  I thought adamantine went right through armor?  And it was only cloth, geez.

Twisting causes more pain, and adamantine weapons are the sharpest blades. The problem might be with how strong and big your character is and how good they are at with weapons. Also, it has to do with how big a creature is and how thick their flesh is. A troll will not be easily killed slashing at his thick hide, but you can stab him.

Disarming opponents....

I've grabbed their weapon and tried to back out of combat but i always seem to release it before moving.....likewise pulling off armor.

ideas?

I recruited several peasants to join me, then quick-traveled out to a bandit camp, and my companions were not there. Any trick to making them tag along?

I know for sure that you'll leave people behind if they're unconscious/sleeping when you shift-T, and there may also be a problem if you're too far away.

Is it possible to delete a game or do you have to die?

You can retire your character in a friendly location, just press escape. :)

To truly delete the game you go into the DF\data\save folder and delete whatever save file you want gone.

Ok, thanks.
One more question:
How do you guys start out? Do you do a job first, or go around practicing on small, defenceless, furry creatures?

Is there some kind of bestiary file to see detailed characteristics of creatures. Like how strong is average human to average kobold, or the above mentioned thickness of hides of different animals?
