You can make an industry out of f*-ing anything these days, can't you?
"Troubled Teen Industry"?

Well you got a society based less off of actually raising your children with a strong counter culture that because of the parent's uninvolvement is mostly unregulated and unfiltered.

It seems like a good buisness to get into.
You hear that fwooshing sound? That's the joke taking off way above your head. And the more I read aobut Jack Thompson the more I think he needs a slug to the face. (A fist, and nothing else, no scaling up or anything just to be clear, 'kay?)

So, practical solutions people. Having something to actually do about this would be nice, yes?

List any organizations or individuals who could be contacted about this, to investigate the school and it's practices, and bring them to greater attention? All that comes to mind:
- The local news media in Maine (they'd eat this stuff up)
- Senators and officials in Maine (would work better if contacted by their constituents in-state)
- Better Business Bureau (may not cover human rights issues)
- Various Child-Abuse prevention organizations (may not have the clout to bring much to pass)

Good. God. What the hell. I read it and when 'Dream on' then, well, I did a Google. That is some horribly creepy shit. On another note, I think I remember reading about another school like this years ago. Also, there was some wiki listing all of them. But dude...

Eugenitor's right about most of this stuff.

This is one topic that I know about definitely more than anyone should. (Before people start wondering: No, I was never subjected to it myself. Seriously, don't ask how I found out about this.) The fight to get this pit closed down has been going on for a very long time. You should see what kind of posts the Elan victims themselves make. It ain't fun.

A slug in the face would've been great.

On Jack? No way. Disbarment was the best slug that could have happened, bar none (<-- lol pun).

When did Jack Thompson get involved?
I thought he got perma-disbarred.

I hope not.

I'm sorry, but this is the slippery slope fallacy in a nutshell

Well you got a large group of unregulated individuals and your asking them to do illegal activities (Stalking, public disturbance, harassment)

Is it REALLY a slippery slope? How much have I jumped?

I am not talking about the writting campaign here or the Denial of Service attack (which I am against but not arguing against)... I am talking about someone's suggestion to actively stalk the parents through the child.

You're jumping from harassment to murder.

That is a very, very large leap.

Amnesty International, maybe.  No idea...

Speak for yourself.  I, for example, am calm.

Ohh I brought it up.

Someone asked when a campaign based around harassing individuals ever got out of hand and invited illegal harassment. So I brought up Jack Thompson.

This all for me to prove that it isn't a slippery slope to expect something based around harassment with outraged uncontrolled unknown individuals to escalate.

Ignore the murder part... that was bad arguement

It really can take the form of any higher levels of harassment (such as physical assualt)

And Neonivek, this is different. Jack Thompson was a class-action asshole, and probably needed someone to do more than "quite a bit of harassment" to him. A slug in the face would've been great. That guy was fighting pop culture, which, derives it's name from popular, and would be expected to receive backlash from being a dipshit

All I mean is that unregulated harassment especially with an outraged group of anominous people is a bad idea. It is asking for unwanted elements and any unfortunate event that is caused by this should be SO expected that it should be no surprise.
All that is being suggested is making one or two people find out who goes to the school and contact their parents, telling them that their ways don't work and that it's inhumane.
The "persistance" part means possibly calling them/visiting them a few more times.

Now, how are you going to demonize this, troll?

Would it be possible for someone to turn this into a court case?  I mean, it violates all sorts of human rights and quite possibly the constitution.  A good decision could possibly set a precedent?

They said harassment

A few phonecalls is hardly harassment.

Also the definition of troll isn't: Someone who disagrees or someone who makes a bad arguement or Someone who is wrong.

You'd be surprised what can be done with internet rage. Somebody proxied up and raided the email of one place, and if I said what he posted it'd start another huge flamewar. Someone else found out that a guy was going to send his daughter to one of those places, and.. yeah it's better if I don't post how that one ends either. There are things you can do if you really want to.

So... rape and torture = good, harrassment = bad?
