I've only played bass for about 3 years or so. I've got an SX Ursa 2 Jazz bass with the J/MM pickup configuration and an SX Ursa 1 Precision bass. I'm looking to swap out the pickups on both of them at some point. I'm also on the lookout for a Yamaha SBV-550 and hoping to eventually get an SG-type bass.

I mostly play through an Acoustic B20 amp. It's not ideal for big jams, but since I usually practice in the house, and I'm not in some sort of audience-playing band, it's good at what it does for the price.

As long as we're on the topic of hardware, I intend to... well, I had a great desire two days ago to sell all 2 of my guitars, but then I became sad. Well, I think I'm still going to get rid of the acoustic one, on the account of not playing it anymore, even though I spent... a bit less than a year, I think, trying to become a super tremolo-ist (this shit is overrated). By the way, anybody got any suggestions on a drop in price for a guitar used for about 3 years... and a bit beaten (I actually managed to crack it on the back, in the form of a thin pale line about a couple of inches long)? It's Dean Espaņa CS. New goes from eBay for $220.

For my second guitar, which is a shabby electric, I've looked up a portable amp, the cheapest kind made for headphones.

Although I don't get much enjoyment from playing either of those. Something seems to lack in our relationship. Maybe it's the fact that I can't tear through solos at supersonic speeds... You know, it may well be because I don't have an amp. And funny thing with the acoustic guitar - I feel like it's too loud, so I'm not eager to play it.

Im actually planning on  sprinkling in some heavy stuff here and there like this:
http://www.mediafire.com/?7bf3roul9iceg4o

I dont want to have TOO much, and I dont want it too overpowering but this song seriously just begs for distortion and all of that stuff. Like a friend said to me, "Its already so god damn metal." Its the truth! :D

PS this version has 11 separate tracks and at times has 8 layers running at the same time. I might add more layers to fill everything out a bit more, but I need to redo the bass lines and then continue on with the track.

Distorted parts need some reverb, imo. I was thinking about somehow transitioning this song into an overpowering solo at the end. You know, a lick here, a lick there, and somehow suddenly there's a metal orgasm. Er. I didn't mean it to be so graphic. :-[ Although I've got no idea if it's possible to pull off at all, with the way the song is.

Yeah, I understand what you are saying. Ill probably do something similar to what you are saying. Right now Im just putting in the distortion parts that just scream to be in there.

As for more reverb, the part where it kicks in with the power chords doesnt sound as good with reverb, sounds a lot better with it being very crisp, but the parts at the beginning have delay and reverb on them, its just the parts are really quiet so they dont over power the intro stuff.

I've been playing guitar for 4-5 years now.

I keep putting off uploading me playing, but I'd probably put some stuff up if someone wanted to collab or something.

Been playing bass for about 3-5 years, and I dabble in guitar. My most prized posession is a metallic light blue fender jazz bass, strung with Rotosound's Steve Harris flatwound strings, which I like rather a lot. My amp is an Ashdown Electric Blue 180 Evo II. I just use a Tanglewood acoustic we have lying around for guitar, although if I actually get any good at it I have my eye on a bright red Ibanez RG. Big thing on my list is to learn how to read sheet music.

I've been playing guitar for almost 3 years now. I'm completely self-taught (wheee) but I can actually play recognizable songs. I like playing a variety of stuff, but my favorites are AC/DC, ZZ Top, Van Halen, and GnR.

I have a crappy Strat that I got for Christmas two years ago, but I'm currently saving up for a Les Paul. 8)

Personally, I'm a fan of Pearl Jam guitar parts.
They don't completely overpower the song, but they're not weak either.
Just...  do yourself a favor and look up Alive.  So much fun to play.

Nothing wrong with being completely self taught. Im self taught, I learned by learning other songs. :)

Video of me playing the intro to Leyenda

I can play a lot more, I just really don't like recording with my current equipment.
