Killing the caravans

What happens if every season, all the traders die? Will the civilizations stop visiting eventually, or will they just send sieges? I'm thinking of dropping all the traders and their caravans in my drowning trap so I can steal all their stuff.

More sieges, until they decide to make peace. Though I'm not sure if they make peace anymore in the newer versions, I haven't gotten any peaces offerings lately.
