I was sent to kill a dragon.  After a grueling trek in which I lost half my men to ambushes, I made it to its lair.  I >'d and proceeded to search for the glorified skink... when I realised that I couldn't see more than a tile in any direction.  I was outside and hadn't even walked to the cave tile yet.

A few steps later, I was paralysed and killed.  Maybe the dragon killed me, but what was with the darkness?  DF then mysteriously crashed, just after I accidentally hit CTRL-SHIFT-ESC.  Pretty wierd, but what ya gonna do.  Reloaded my save, maneuvered to a separate side of the cave, same deal.  3x3 vision, men picked off one by one by some sort of paralyse, same happened to me.  I didn't see anything.

I looksied at legend mode and my adventurer had died to a copper bolt (after being paralysed I assume).  No mention of the paralysis anywhere, though. 

Ideas :X?

Your 'Glorified Skink' May have been a forgotten beast with blinding paralysis venom/blood/breath/dust/ichor/skin/cologne

Your eyes must be broken. You have gone blind most likely, but the paralysing is confusing.. Could you poast a screenshot?

Yeah, you could be walking through some sort of contact poison.

Sounds like a syndrome with nasty long-term effects.  What did you fight before you set out on the dragon quest?

Or it could have just been really, really foggy. I recently had to find a fortress amidst the worst fog I'd ever encountered. I had to keep slowing down to make sure my compatriots were still with me.

Well, I had some damage to my eyelid... but that's it.  It resulted in perhaps the most kickass warrior chick look, too, if the description is anything to go by:

Her hair is extremely long.  She is broad and muscular.  She has very high cheekbones.  She has a very clear voice.  Her somewhat broad ears are somewhat tall.  Her emerald eyes are slightly wide-set.  Her right eye bears a massive jagged scar.  Her nose bridge is somewhat concave.  Her head is somewhat narrow.  Her hair is chocolate.  Her skin is pale pink.  Her right lower arm bears a tiny straight scar.  Her left lower leg bears the marks of old wounds, including a tiny straight scar.  Her right foot bears a tiny curving scar.

What is somewhat more interesting, however, is that visiting the description screen revealed my worries.



A few days ago my char was breathed on by a forest titan's funky breath.  I guess it took a while to kick in...

I can only assume the 'death by copper bolt' is a bug that attributed the kill to the last person to damage me.

That's got to be syndrome; all that rotting flesh etc. can be nothing else.  AT least she died in the line of duty...

She was my most successful adventurer ever (well, survived the longest).  Slayer of a hydra, several night beasts, a giant, a titan and scores of kobolds/goblins.  All from a peasant background.

Now to do the same with an elf.  Wooden swords gogo!
