That happened to me but I was learning french instead XD. I just don't like the english language (says the man who lives in that UK), there's all the rules, odd spellings and such also the the fact that some of it you have to straight remember it becaue there isn't a reason for being how it is other than, because it is -______-

Hate to break it to you, but this is true of every language. English is probably worse than most, but "hey let's do it this way most of the time and then make up all these exceptions!" is a pretty standard part of human communication.

Hey, at least we don't have a group of assholes who sit around and decide what is and is not acceptable English like the French do. Not for lack of trying in the 18th Century.

I think English is a great language. Combines the elegance of French with the rhythm of German.

German... if I recall correctly, it's been quite a lot like that too. Bunch of assholes in 17th and 18th century eradicating the 6839046785 french loan words to their best ability.
It's english loanwords nowadays. People still care, but not that much. Mainly linguists.

im american so by the time we hit 6th grade we know how to speak, now that doesn't mean our skills have been groomed yet to speak and understand formally but a least we can talk. Its funny how all of my english teachers pointed out that the UK has strict rules even a Committee for strict grammar.

It's not surprising, I hadn't heard of it but it sure was fashionable for a couple centuries there. Italy has had the Academia della Crusca since like 1580. It's sure disappointing though. You'd think modern linguists would understand that language purity is bullshit. A language that doesn't change is a dead language.

We do still have our cadre of magazine columnists who think they're the Academy of English though.
