Update Five; Of Monks and Marxists

El Presidente! Wake up! Wake up El Presidente! You've been asleep for a long time. It is not sleeping time. It is working time.


Here is the year's report. You're not interested? But look Excellency! There have been many dramatic changes! Average worker pay went up 10 cents! And the threats to our power are slightly higher! And...And...You are quite right El Presidente! This is very very boring. I'll go give it to the bureaucrats.


Now that we have finished a new Teamster's Office those lazy lay-abouts are flocking to our shores!


El Presidente! The diplomats have managed to procure some important blueprints from the Yanquis! This is a surprising turn-around in U.S-Tropico relations.


And by coincidence our hotel is done. Soon we'll be seeing more of our Yanqui friends, except they'll be here to party!


Grave news Excellency! We ran a deficit last year! This does not bode well!


Excellency we are about to be out of debt! A freighter has arrived offering to purchase all the wood we can give them! Which is a lot.


Excellency the population of Tropico grows quickly! And they dislike living in shacks! So we must build more stinking tenements to house them!


The Yanqui tourists have arrived! However we don't have much entertainment for them. I guess they'll have to mingle with the residents of the island at our entertainment establishments!


It seems that with rich defenseless tourists wandering around the Tropicans have become tempted to rob them. And so it becomes necessary to build a police station. Ah well. It will give some jobs to our male high school graduates.


We have built a beach site to accommodate the tourists. Nice and cheap it is a great place for them to relax away from the regular Tropicans.


El Presidente Emilio is stirring up trouble again with his housing complaints. What more does he want! We are currently building a tenement!


With all the Yanqui tourists crawling around the island, I think now would be a good time for an election. Don't you El Presidente?


Once again the infuriating pastor Alberto Del Rey is running against you. Bah! Let them talk of their "eternal damnation" and "saving of souls." Let's go to the pub!


Before we go Excellency I have two pieces of news. Firstly the tenement is done. Perhaps that will get Emilio off your back.


And secondly I'm happy to say the tourists are enjoying their beach-site!  Now let's go get hammered!

Update Six; Money, Money, Money!

El Presidente it is election day! Today the people will chose between you and the fundamentalist, Alberto Del Rey. He is a persistent one!


It looks like a sure victory for El Presidente. But if you would like to insure your victory than I may be able to arrange some ballot stuffing...


El Presidente, you have won! And my cheating was unnecessary! Better safe than sorry eh Excellency?


El Presidente the wealthy people on the island need more houses. Perhaps a new housing division? We'll construct one by the docks immediately Excellency!


The tourists are complaining that the their is no area to relax in front of the hotel. Well our construction workers have set to work! On a side note we have come into quite a bit of money Excellency! Over $20,000!


Excellency the people are very happy to educate themselves! Already we have 4 full classes!


Excellency I see you have started spending the fortune! A collage, an apartment building and a tenement! That should raise the quality of life significantly! What should we do with the rest? Ah I see. Right away Excellency!

Update Seven; Well you say you want a revolution!

Good morning El Presidente. The people have decided what they want to do with the surplus. While some wanted banks and some wanted an Army base the most popular idea was that of a casino. However casinos require electricity which Tropico has none of. So we have commissioned one built!


There it is, not too far away from El Venado. Soon your enemies will choke on the glorious smoke it will produce!


I see you have spent the remainder of the surplus on building some infrastructure for the tourists. A wise move Excellency! The other port was a little dirty...


Disturbing news Excellency! A man by the name of Miguel Silva from the slums has declared himself a rebel! I'm sure our Guard can handle him though...


Another year! We didn't make much this year Excellency but we didn't expect to with all the purchases we made.


I see El Presidente has seen fit to add two more projects to the construction office's growing list. An armory should discourage further rebels. And while another mine may not suit the environmentalists, it'll suit your checkbook just fine! Or at least if we had a bank it would. Well it'll suit your money suitcases just fine!


Another apartment complex should suit the people just fine!


Grave news Excellency! Miguel is attacking our logging camp! Oh I hope our troops get there in time!


They seem to have scared each other! Miguel is headed for town and Franck (the soldier) has panicked and is retreating!


They seem to have bumped into each other in they're respective flights!


Neither seemed like they wanted to fight and they're back to running.


DUCK EXCELLENCY! That shot just missed you! He is right outside the palace! Maybe we should have trained more guards! Or trained these guards better!


He has shot Kerry White, leader of the capitalists and one of your diehard supporters, in the doorway of his house. Kill him! Kill him fast!


On his way back to the jungle he stopped to kill another. When will it end!


Rejoice! As he attempted to escape he was ambushed by our two remaining guards! This was quite sobering Excellency. We must be ready for such future rebellions in the future! What if there had been two rebels!


While that was happening the island did not stand still Excellency! The construction workers have completed a new tenement and the College. Now we only have to find someone to teach there...
