Humans are amazing builders (itt construction fails)
« on: November 23, 2010, 09:46:13 pm »

Today, the humans have discovered the ancient secrets of bridge building.

Seriously, how do they manage to do this?

Anyway, has anybody else found facepalm-inducing geographical locations, or am I just cursed to suffer eternally incompetent beings running the world?

one of my first adventurers started right next to a house going through a running river, and there were even people inside after I entered (nearly drowning in the process) and it slowly began to fill with water.

Best building place y/y?

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

How do you check out other z levels without actually going there?

Use < and > when [l]ooking. It's the same way you move when on stair tiles.

From another thread from 31.17. A really messed up hamlet:
...I just found a house in a really, really bad position; 3 Z-levels beneath the ground, no ramp to the final level, and the house sits right next to one of the starting arms of a river on the same Z-level (meaning if the ice should melt the entire house would flood). Seriously, what moron would build a house there?

Edit: Oh, and, sleeping in one of the nearby houses caused me to wake up right on top of the in-river-house. Seriously, what is going on here?

Edit2: Actually, I woke up in the same place I slept. Turns out, the house I slept in fell down one Z-level and there's no ramps up. And apparently the same house that was in the river is now in a safe position. What, the, frick?

Edit3: Apparently a house is now in the middle of a frozen river. This hamlet is really, really, really messed up.
Too bad I didn't take pictures, though.

Unknown to most but the insane and the mystics, Tarran is actually Earth itself, as Earth is sentient like that planet in Avatar. Originally Earth used names such as Terra on the internet, but to protect it's identity it changed letters, now becoming the Tarran you know today.

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

Last week I found a bridge that ended short of a river crossing, effectively making it useless.

Name of the bridge? The Bridge of Swimming. Cheeky bastards those humans.

Not Humans, but I once visited a goblin tower that immediately took a dive.

How do I visit elf dwarf and goblin civilizations? Whenever I travel to them the area is just completely deserted, no buildings people or anything. Sorry I don't have anything to add to the thread right now, just felt that this question wasn't important enough to start a new topic about
