The point of Life, of Existence itself is to experience pleasure.
Which is just silly.

Why do you get up in the morning? To continue your genes through to the next generation? To work because you need money for your grey tasteless food?

Everything is motivated by desire.
I do none of those things.

You don't get up in the morning?

Get the stake.

It's not... but you get one hell of a headache from doing it.

Saying communism has similar goals to socialism is a little like saying a republic has similar goals to democracy. That is, one is a method for organizing resources to meet needs. What needs are met, which are important, and which fall into neglect is up to the governing body's wisdom, beliefs, and day to day whimsy, I.E, pure luck. The other is a philosophy of rule - it defines what a government is supposed to be for, and how responsibility and power are supposed to rightfully be distributed.

Just a pet peeve out of the way.

How many different threads do we need to talk about perfect worlds and communism?  I think we're up to three active at the moment.

Screw it, I'm going to back to polish up my Feudalist Manifesto some more.
Yes.

Also, half a page in and this thread is already fulled with idealists.

Socialism and communism are old, both in mean of action and objective.
I have a strong sympathy for them but nowadays they are mostly a burden for progressives and humanists.

I'm talking more about the Marxist concept of communism. Which, I suspect, is what most other people are talking about.

I don't know what you're talking about. :| It seems like you're discussing something similar to autocracy. :|

My guess is that there is the idea of a motherland and people (when talk about Communism) are not working toward the goal of human benefit, but the Country's benefit.  Humanists tend to lean toward the benefit of the people more than the benefit of the country protecting the people.  In a way, it's sort of an optimistic anarchy where people get along enough to not need to support a military.

In reality, people will always be leaders or followers which lends itself to a hierarchy and soon enough you'll be back to chiefs, then lords and kings given enough time.  You won't have feeling of equality and the whole thing will break down.

The ultimate goal of Humanity is to build a drill big enough to pierce the heavens. Look in your heart, you know it to be true.

Some of you may have overlooked the fact that by saying "I find communist ideas acceptable" you're actually also saying "I find mass murdering or deporting innocent people acceptable."

1) world achieves utopian communism
2) everyone spends 10,000 years with robo hookers in the matrix
3) bored of hookers, everyone creates a crappy virtual reality where you get to forget about your past life and struggle and hunt and live in caves
4) the next 300 generations in the matrix work toward a utopian communism
5) repeat

Just because some communist states murdered people doesn't make murdering a central part of communism. That's like saying by supporting capitalism means you support war, because loads of capitalist countries have gone to war. It's horrible logic.
