I also vote that we do a pocket world, so that we can have it done fairly quickly.

Not only is it not actually advertising anything, it's just copy/pasting word salads about gold, runescape, oil, yuan, and handbags.  It's like a transporter accident combined all the spambots into one shambling mass of online sales.

Make sure to gen it with a ton of megabeasts and caves.

And has it been proven that you cannot do multiple saves at the same time?  I seem to recall a fix for the Nemesis bug that involved replacing part of a world save file and resetting the date to earlier.  I'm not sure how sites are handled and named though.

Playing a cheesemaker in an average Fortress 'round here would be. Freaking. Terrifying.

This sounds really neat and I'd like to join.

It would be cool if there was a way to merge saves but I don't think that is possible.

This would be fun but I guess maps aren't cross-compatible for mac and pc?

no, they are. you copy the save folder. what we are talking about is having two people download a save and play their own fort then somehow take the two separate saves and combine them into one save.

No Brisk, I get that bit, I was talking about getting involved in the project in general.
I just assumed the files were in a different format but I guess C++ or whatever DF is in must be cross platform. Cool, so put me down (if it works) and I'll give it a go.

Right, I'll gen the world, update the turn list and get cracking.
Writing a log is purely optional. You can reveal as much as you want about your project. If you want it to be a mysterious dungeon, you can simply hint at it's nature or say nothing. If you want to construct a prestigious metropolis/castle, then feel free to big it up with vibrant history.

EDIT: World genned. One dwarf fortress over in the bottom left and a human civ spread over the north west.

This okay for everyone?

We'll be accepting as many people as want to come in, but I'm thinking about restricting the waiting list to 20, allowing a new sign-up whenever a turn is finished.

No, that would not be okay.
That would be awesome. Go for it.
