Fill Up The World
« on: November 23, 2010, 01:19:42 pm »

Adventure mode is real fun now we've got aimed attacks and stuff, but it's kind of.. empty, isn't it?
Sure, there's a bunch of hills and some sparse towns, but nothing spectacular. And only way to have something real to explore is to go in in Fortress mode and build something there. But it'd be crazy and slightly pointless to try to fill up a whole world that way on your own.
Which is why I want your help.

The rules will go as thus:
1. Every new player embarks in a different place
2. Each player is to build a fortress or monument
3. A player's turn ends after three days of real-time, their fortress is brought to an end, or when the player is satisfied and done.
4. If a player needs more time to finish their work, they can ask for an extension, which can be approved by the next player in line.
5. If a player cannot complete their turn, we ask they upload their save regardless. Ruins and relics are as fun to explore as castles and monuments.

A week real-time is kind of too long for me. We'd be waiting a year just to have a filled world. Two or three days is long enough to get a decent-sized fort, IMHO. But I am interested.

Interesting concept... I like the idea of populating a world with neat stuff for players to find. :)

Is there any way to merge multiple copies of the same world together?  3 days sure doesn't sound like enough time to accomplish
a significant project.... however, a few weeks wouldn't be a bad deadline if 4-5 people were working at the same time.

Someone put this in the suggestions section right the heck now.

As for the time limit, I'm throwing it up for debate. Five days seems like a good compromise to me, and the ability to ask for extensions is always there.
Ooh, also, adding an additional rule or two.

I will so do this.

I never play as an adventurer, so I'm interested to see what my forts look like.

!!Elves!! would actually be kinda cool as a civ symbol.  !!Clowns!!, however, you get the impression they're on fire of their own free, malicious, evil, will.

Also, much scarier if literally clowns.

I will do it.

Not only is it not actually advertising anything, it's just copy/pasting word salads about gold, runescape, oil, yuan, and handbags.  It's like a transporter accident combined all the spambots into one shambling mass of online sales.

Added in a list of participants. Not sure if some people were just expressing an interest or volunteering to join, thought it better to place them on the waiting list anyway.

Indeed, I meant I would join when I said I was interested. As long as it doesn't interfere with Paperscale II much, I don't see a problem.
