Bug with disassembled bridges
« on: September 27, 2006, 09:02:00 pm »

I built a series of bridges over the chasm + river to see the shoreline without mining it out.

When I disassemble the end bridge, it puts the stones from it on the end of the second to last bridge.

If I then disassemble the second to last bridge, it leaves the stones floating in mid-air/mid-water, and unaccessable by dwarves (which eventually results in some dwarf wanting the rock, unable to get it, and path-locking everything).

These rocks should probably be "destroyed" when the bridge holding them is removed, or the dwarves should move them before removing the bridge.

I had this problem, too.  I had a 1x5 bridge over the chasm and later decided to replace it with a 3x5 bridge to accomodate more traffic.  Unfortunately, a stone got left behind in mid air and prevented me from building the bridge in the same location.  It was especially frustrating how long it took me to realize that there was a stone that no one could get to causing the problem, and had to relocate the bridge further south...which totally screwed up my fortress symmetry :O

Yeah, it should be ground-checking them, but I guess it's not.

I can usually clear any obstructions like that by attempting to build a bridge that just reaches the object I want to move.  For some reason, as soon as the dwarf tries to clear all obstacles the item/rock/whatever just vanishes.  This'd be how I clear my moats of idiot ex-miners.
