The only way to predict the outcome is a game of WH40K. IG can represent NK very well (Chenkov is a must), and I guess America must be Eldars with all their fancy tech. Who's SK, though? Mahrines?

The Tau, obviously :o

And what the Chinese and/or Russians might do.
And the rest of the world.

The rest of the world doesn't, as a matter of pragmatism, care. Everyone else with the willpower and technology to do something about it is in NATO or wouldn't mind the North Koreans getting slaughtered (e.g. Japan, another country sick of their shit).

I dunno... genocide on an unprecedented scale might cause a few eyebrows to raise.

Did anyone, geopolitically, really give that much of a crap when we invaded Afghanistan and Iraq, neither of which was the same kind of organized military threat that NK represents, the first a hugely disproportionate response and the second on a lol-bullshit pretext? It's not like we're going to be targeting civilians.

Putin will be glad to see them go and the Chinese could probably be talked into it if we pushed the right buttons. NK might have been a real ally to them 50 years ago but now it's just a boil on their ass. They just don't want the backwash of refugees and general chaos.

Well, it depends, I guess.  But the "Super scorched earth make sure we kill absolutely everyone we possibly can using napalm" tactic being advocated here isn't gonna be great for hearts and minds.

The great thing about fighting a nation as militarized as NK is that there's so proportionately few civilians in the kill zones. In fact Kim Jong-il is probably stupid enough to institute a Volkssturm-style mass draft. Everyone's in the military? Cool! We can't kill civilians no matter what we do! It's paaaarty time!

Well, I guess as the only one who doesn't delight in the idea of killing innocent people, I should probably leave this thread.

NK is indeed suspected of having a nuke or two, but not enough to destroy much more than the SK capital and maybe a couple other cities.
From what I've heard, Seoul is the 8th most populous city in the world, and half of the population of South Korea lives in the metropolitan area. If you're only counting the city itself, that's still a quarter of the population. Busan, the next largest city, is less than a quarter of that size. Incheon is close to the border, and easily reachable by artillery.

Losing any one of those (but especially Seoul) would be terrible indeed.

Go go genocide, because everybody knows just invading afghanistan over a lame excuse and toppling Iraq didn't cause a huge wave of disapproval and suspiciousness in and out of America! Of course nobody would suspect the US, if they do they're terrorists, rite? Nobody will care if we mass slaughter a nation just because we can, rite rite? The other world powers surely don't want an excuse to jump at our red-coloured necks, rite rite rite? Rite! Yee-haw, now lez' go watch sum nascar and drink some moonshinez while we send those failed highschoolers who joined the army because they play CoD online and watch the fireworks from that hueg ass tv!

America has SDI ;D

But does SK? :P
SDI? Satelite Defense Initiative? I thought that was scrapped in the '80s.
SK has nothing like that. Hell, even our own missile defence isn't perfect.

It doesn't work at all.  It's like trying to shoot a bullet with another bullet :/.

No, it's like hitting a bullet with a faster bullet that can track the first bullet.

It's like destroying a bullet with any one of a number of faster, guided, tracking explosive bullets.
