Well, I don't know the first thing about the DMZ. Cross border mortar attacks might be common. But, if I had to guess, since the whole situation is so volatile, I'd say that a mortar attack would draw a lot of media attention and that also soldiers are human and exaggerate or make mistakes. So I still don't think North Korea has shelled anyone before this point.

That's not saying it didn't happen once or twice. Maybe it did, but it's impossible to prove or even point to any record of the incident, so it might as well not have happened at all as far as this situation is concerned.

That you haven't heard of it doesn't mean it doesn't happen

There was this lovely incident when American troops cut down Dear Leader's personal tree in DMZ.

Kim is nuts, Nk and SK hate each other, and we need a clusterf**k to solve this problem.

I think the major difference between this and other incidents, is that civilians and their residences were bombarded, that more than anything is would rile people up, it's pretty much an act of war. If kim provokes the south any more, it probably will come to armed conflict.

Quote from: Sarah Palin
But obviously, we’ve got to stand with our North Korean allies. We’re bound to by treaty

I can't tell if this is a joke or not. Does this say something worse about me, or Palin?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Not that I like Palin, I still think she's an idiot, but she was talking on the spot on a radio, and she didn't MEAN to say North Korea, and when the interviewer corrected her, she changed it around, and the next time she meant to say South Korea, she actually said South Korea.

I'd totally love to have a president who accidentally confuses allies and mortal enemies, and who needs to be corrected before noticing :/.

President Albert Zheimers once engaged in a 9 year long war after a mix-up with the reports of the drug wars in Mexico arriving on his desk at the same time his Viagra prescription ran out.
