Report small bugs here (typos, display errors, wonky com
« on: October 29, 2007, 06:44:00 pm »

Start a new topic for major bugs, this is for small things like spelling errors, colors being off, stuff like that.

"Negociator" should be Negotiator.

Edit: On second thought, I'm not sure it's a good idea to have all these bugs under one topic. Whatever helps Toady most.

Like : Billion bars might be better as bullion bars , unless you're really really really optimistic. In the materials of economic value screen at least.

it's actually billon bars, which is the proper spelling.

quote:
Billon is an alloy of a precious metal (most commonly silver, but also gold) with a majority base metal content (such as copper). It is used chiefly for making coins, medals, and token coins.

The word originates from the middle Latin billo, meaning "a coin containing mostly copper", or just "unit of payment".

on the "stone restriction" screen (subscreen of the status screen), the hotkey to change status/view selected is actually "enter" instead of the stated "space"

Edit : also described in http://www.bay12games.com/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=6&t=001329

It's a "two-humped camel" but a "Two-humped camel calf".  Note capitalization.  Same for one hump.

In fact, all young animals seem to be capitalized.

There's no such thing as a proper spelling for an international product, but bullion is a rather more popular term than billon based on google's search results:

Bullion -4,840,000 hits
Billon -972,000 hits

it doesn't matter what has more results on google because the intended meaning is the billon alloy.

The Manual: Living Quarters
"...If you use the building interface to creating a bedroom..."

Also I think you need to make the topic name more meaningful. Gotta keep this forum clean.

The Manual: Making Crafts
Metal
"...you can use charcoal made from *three spaces appear here* food, or coal fuel from..."
I assume there was meant to be 'wood' since wood is mentioned as a fuel in it's own section.
Soap
It mentions that fat is used for soap only and would 'otherwise rot away in your refuse pile'. It then goes on to mention that fat can be rendered in a kitchen, for food.

On a number of the New item screens in the embark have an 's' after the P on some items. Not sure what that's about.

After hitting Embark for the second time you are met with a long wait and no indication. Maybe a loading message?

Sound options do not save apparently.

Where is the controls list? I am confused.

On the Stone Restrictions the available keys include "Space: Change status" and "Space: Done"

The zone tool area you can see after pressing 'i' should be flashing so you can see what's actually highlighted.

Setting a stockpile to hold unprepared fish only, allows edible animal meat to be placed in the stockpile.

According to Wikipedia:

Billon is an alloy of a precious metal (most commonly silver, but also gold) with a majority base metal content (such as copper). It is used chiefly for making coins, medals, and token coins.

The word originates from the middle Latin billo, meaning "a coin containing mostly copper", or just "unit of payment".

Use of billon coins dates through Middle Ages to ancient Greece. During 6th and 5th century BC, some cities on Lesbos island used coins made of 60% copper and 40% silver. During the Middle Ages, leaner mixtures were adopted, some with only 25% or even 20% of silver.

and Bullion redirects to 'Precious Metals' which is too large to reproduce here. (Well it truly isn't, but if you are really interested you could follow the link)

edit: Also I'm being inundated with ".. cancels plant seeds: needs ...".

Edit: problem was different then I thought.

Tapping Shift + <or> often goes up or down multiple levels. It seems to not be affected by the key press delay.

Probably best to have one thread for each type of problem. Like... "Text mistakes" "Water glitches" etc.

The window header when meeting with the outpost liaison:

"The  Zulban Ezumdodok meets with the Outpost Liaison, Thikut Sodelurem"

I may have that message slightly wrong, but the important bit is there in the front.  "The [two spaces] Zulban Ezumdodok".  It seems like it's searching for the words "Expedition Leader", or some other title for my noble, but isn't finding them.

Limestone, Dolomite, Chalk, Marble and Calcite should say that they count as FLUX in the stone view.  "FLUX" is listed as a reagent in pig iron and steel reactions, and it's not obvious to someone who isn't up on their metallurgy that flux refers to "something which contains calcium carbonate".
