So, I drink 3-4 cups of coffee a day and smoke 2-3 cigarettes. This has taken a toll on my teeth, which are quite yellow now.

I know that a dentist can just scrape off the buildup of the yellow stuff, but I've heard it damages enamel and my teeth aren't very strong to begin with. Are there any less invasive but still effective methods for making my teeth white again? Preferably ones that don't involve quitting coffee and cigarettes.

I'm also interested. The clinic offers a teeth whitening one-session for $275. I could use a whitening sometime in the next year.

It's not that bad. Meaning you wont get cavities from dentist cleaning from time to time.

That being said, mixing your tooth paste with sodium bicarbonate can help scrape the muck away. I've found that oxygenated water from time to time can also help.

They are not wunderwaffen against dirt, mind you, but if you do it from time to time and brush your teeth regularly you'll get rid of quite a bit of muck

There are various kinds of teeth whitening toothpastes and mouth rinses; they won't be nearly as quick as paying an exorbitant sum (expect months of using the stuff), but it'll be much, much cheaper.

I think the sodium bicarbonate method is probably cheaper in the long run. It doesn't have the instant results...but that's what you pay a skilled chemist $275 dollars to do. And I imagine any tooth whitening session still involves the mandatory scraping of teeth with steel.

Which do you trust more, a dentist's pick in the hands of a professional or a chemical cocktail suggested by some guys on the internet? Its possible for a dentist to put a hole in your teeth, but it would require him to work for hours while constantly sharpening his tools. What they are intended to do is remove tartar, which builds up almost like lime scale on pipes. He could also recommend a particular solution for whitening, since he would know your teeth much better than a salesman.

I love how I do stuff to make myself look better for myself and people second. White teeth, soft, new clothes, and muscles won't directly help you get a date, but makes you feel more awesome about yourself during and after.

Hey while we're on this topic, are dark circles under your eyes something that can be lessened by anything other than getting more sleep or make-up? I get them in the morning and the night, but not the day.
