Dawn of Worlds
« on: November 21, 2010, 03:43:41 pm »

so, who here is familiar with Dawn of Worlds? PDF copy of the rules: http://www.clanwebsite.org/games/rpg/Dawn_of_Worlds_game_1_0Final.pdf
tl;dr - we all play gods, and take turns shaping the world, filling it with sentient critters, and then control them. Each turn, you roll 2d6 (last time I played, we ended up using 4d6; the more players the better), and then use those points to do things, like edit terrain or create a race or forge an artifact or RAIN FIERY DEATH upon a 1" space of the map.
It's pretty freaking awesome.

So, I'm gonna run one of these. I do need one thing: if somebody knows a really good way to map this electronically, that'd be sweet. I mean, feel free to use MSpaint to edit the map pics, but I like to have a nice even hex grid and to make all my changes on separate Photoshop layers - if anybody's got a saved action set, or even just a template, of a hex grid, i'd really appreciate it.

While I wait for replies, I'm going to go gen a decent starting map by fiddling with the cloud filter on Photoshop.

EDIT: Current Turn Map

in. I'll read the rules in a minute
EDIT: Read, this sounds cool. If we do turns simultaneously that will make it go much faster i think, otherwise it would take like a week per round (would be a bit hard to do it that way, but anyone else got other ideas?), or mabey we should do it chatting or something dunno.

Reading rules, may want in. Signs point to yes. God games are FUN. also, are those RPG maker towns on that map?

Heh. Yes they are. I ripped some of the sprites for personal use forever ago.

roll 2d6, state action for first turn. refer to the pdf for point costs. We'll try simultaneous actions, honor system rolling, and I'm going to assume you have MS paint to edit the map with (i'll fix the art myself at the end of the round, unless somebody else has actual art skills). Recall that points roll over, so you can save up, but if you have v. few points, you get +1 free point.

I'd like some creativity in this - try not to spam ordinary fantasy races. Last game I played had floating crab-tentacle beasts who were master craftsmen/traders, and an army of guitar-playing ShadowoftheCollussus-type Collosii. Also, uranium flats, monolith fields, and a mountain that turned Cthulhu into a Lich.

HOSERULE: 1pt for terrain/climate editing in the first Era.

rolled for the entire game, i rolled all 12's :)
just kidding rolled a 9 (yay), although i think that 4d6's would be cooler
So how do we do this, do we pm you our actions or do we post them?
And it seems like you want us to edit the map and post it on photobucket (?)
