Persistent Infections

I have this infection in one of my body parts that's been around for at least a season now, just sitting there. Will it ever go away?

I've been told there is no way to get rid of it in adventure mode, and now there isn't much hope at all of getting your adventurer into a fortress seeing as how you can no longer embark on towns or other settlements, and cannot send your adventurer to them without abandoning the fort, at which point you cannot retire in that settlement because it's 'abandoned'. Maybe you could if you surrendered to a human siege and they took over instead of leaving it, but by then your adventurer would have died or would immediately after you restart your adventures before you can even leave for the fort.

Infections don't go away naturally in DF, so it will kill you eventually, it just takes a while. You've probably got another season or two at most.

I don't know about that. My adventurer has had an infection in her finger for nearly three years, and another in her upper arm for two and she's fine.

I had a similar one.

Nose and ear cartillage (sp?) smashed apart, infected, right thumb smashed apart, infected.

Survived several solo megabeast and semi-megabeast fights, at least until I got my left hand scratched off by a Titan and then had my head kicked in by a wrestler.
