I got this message for a legendary mason dwarf when he was picking up a stone on the other side of the fortress from the workshop. Was it a masterpiece hauling job? lol

Might be a bit of announcement lag plus whatever time it took to track down the masterpiece creator that makes this seem like a bug. Often enough I'll come rushing to my workshop area in search for the masterpiece maker and s/he was already on their way to pick up more material for their next piece.

If s/he became a legendary via possession/mood (or they're just a long-lived mason) then the gained agility might make it plausible for them to be able to be across the fortress by the time you find out.

Yea but this guy was litterally on the other side of my fortress. It takes dwarves like an entire day to get all the way across, what with all the cow herds and whatnot.

He can just plow through them if he's way stronger methinks

I've noticed this consistently on the newest version also.  I *think* the message appears after someone hauls the object out of the workshop, and into a stockpile ready to use.

Was it "constructed" a masterpiece?  That's a building message.  It can be delayed if somebody else works on the building after the main builder has stopped.
