Long enough for them to be studied though. I'm pretty excited by this. It's the largest piece of the creation puzzle we've yet had access to. Being able to study matter's polar opposite will shoot research on solid matter to a whole new level....or open up an entirely new branch of physics altogether. I imagine understanding how matter can become anti-matter and vicea versa is one part of the necessary tech for teleportation and FTL travel.

"Yet for all the similarities, scientists think matter and antimatter must differ in some other fundamental way. That's because, even though matter and antimatter should have been created in equal amounts during the big bang, the universe we know is made almost entirely of matter."

Or they'll turn it into a weapon. 'cause you know, that's what always happens.

I was very pleased by this. The Hadron Collider is well on its way to making us a black hole or antimatter gun!

Do you mean to presume that they would take this incredibly dangerous substance that violently reacts with matter to create an enormous release of energy and give it some sort of military function?

Why I never.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

They're up to seconds now? Cool! This isn't the first time, both Fermilab and Cern* have been making antimatter for some time, but they haven't been able to keep it around for so long

*May be that more labs have been doing it as well, but those two have the biggest colliders, so they usually get the best results.

We* need super-heavy hover-panzers before we** get AM weapons! Someone needs to get to work building little nuclear reactors to power the super-tanks. And the US Army needs to design a new tank before 2050.

Maybe we are the antimatter, and what we call antimatter is the real matter!

It's too impractical.

I could just buy a nuke for the price of making a molecule these that exist for 4.5 seconds.

I wonder what happens when you split antimatter?
