Oh, this is just what I need. I'm having a friend over, and I'm going to teach how to play DF. This is almost the perfect tutorial world. Only thing I would change would to be rid of the Zombie/Skeletal Fire Imps and Magma Crabs, but oh well, they're far enough away as to not cause trouble. They're just making me nervous.

Also, question. Did anybody else get a Candy notification when the ice thawed? I think some water fell into the volcano and found two veins of it, with out me doing anything.

Cave ins are good like that :D
I didn't get that, the water created a stable couple of obsidian pieces.

You said it was in semi molten rock? I still don't find the cotton-candy... And this is bad, because I don't want to run into spartans.
At wich level does the first vein start? I am having hard times finding it and i already got one "accident" because of that...

There are three: one at the lower left (biggest one), one right-center (also big), and one top-center (half as big as the others, still big).  They start at the magma sea; it shouldn't be hard to discover any of them, just burrow to the sea and it should reveal at least one.  I had a dwarf fall down the volcano vent and discover one on his way down.

I'm actually quite nice IRL, but you people have to pay the price for that.

I don't have any 3d visualisers and the site's got a bit of hillyness to it, not the kind of thing I can just zoom out and cap multiple layers with.  But here's ground level 3x3, showing the volcano mouth and river start next to each other.  The bottom half of the map isn't very hilly (3-4 Z levels), the top half is mountain.

Mined the lower-left vein out to capacity (HFS intact), other two left untouched.  39 strands and 102 wafers created thus far, 2083 raw adamantine left...

Did you include in the world_gen the massive strings of numbers after the usual data?  i dumped the whole (massive) lot in and it rolled up fine at like 508/509 in .18

Really?  That's odd.  The numbers are custom maps for drainage/elevation/etc.

This embark is fantastic. Three veins of precioussss adamantine, two soil layers, no aquifer, volcanos, cliffs, a source of running water, and a nice big forest. And all three civilizations are alive, which is nice too.

Can't wait to try this out, bookmarked for sure.

TBH, I think that all dwarf fortress problem solving falls either on the "Rube Goldberg" method, or the "pharaonic" one.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

Cool. Just found the exact embark point, no problems at all.

That didn't last long, huh? Shame, cause binary's cool. Anyway, an important message: I will be changing my names on every username based thing I use to ASCIt on/around 10/1. Consolidating, I guess you could say.
