Simulation (Text Adventure)
« on: November 18, 2010, 09:03:21 pm »

This will be a serious text-adventure, and there probably won't be much humor in it. So uh, yeah.  :-\

You are sitting in a chair, strapped in with a belt. You aren't exactly sitting, actually, but lying down. Infront of you is a large window. Outside there are many clouds, and it is probably the afternoon. You can't see the sun or anything else, really, only the blue sky and the white, fluffy clouds. The clouds draw nearer and pass around you as time passes. You hear nothing. You can't smell anything. You can't taste anything. You can only feel the calm feeling of nothingness. You think for a moment you felt a cold breeze gently brushing over your skin, but it was probably just your imagination.

You look down, and examine yourself. At least, what you can see. You are wearing a thick wooly jacket- even though you don't feel warm or cold. You don't even feel any heat from wearing it. You are also wearing some lin mittons, dark jeans, and you feel something on your head...you can't look up and see it though. You're so tightly strapped into this chair you can't move anything but your head, and that's only to look around...

You fly through a cloud. As you reach the other side of it, a mountain is directly in your path, seemingly jutting out of nowhere. You'll probably crash into it, unless you change course.

Forgotten Beasts seem to be akin to Toady playing Russian Roulette with your fortress, as they can be anything from harmless giant worms made of mud to necrotic-gas spewing nigh-invunerable iron hydras of doom.

Get at least one hand out and untie self.
Judging from the area below, choose either to try to change course or jump out.

Calmly scream in a terrified manner and try to command whatever it is we're in.

(Sorry, posted the topic right before going to bed)

try to remember how i got here

You try to think of anything before being stuck in this chair, but you can't. You can only remember everything from a moment ago. The mountain draws nearer.

There is no steering wheel or buttons infront of you, you don't know how to control whatever you are in. You attempt to move from the seatbelt, but you can't even struggle, only turn your head to look around. The mountain draws nearer, and you can now see the rough surface of it as it closes in...

Your eyes open. A glass plating covers your entire body. Slowly, a thin, cyan fog starts pouring out of small holes beside you, only the size of dots. As it fills with the gas, the glass plating suddenly moves outward, making a slight thumping sound. It then opens, swinging slowly behind and out of your vision. The fog dissipates, and you are lying in a very comfortable, recliner-like chair.

Examine surroundings.

You slowly sit up, and the belt you thought was nearly crushing your stomach now rips as you move. It falls lifelessly to the side of the 'pod'- which you can now see clearly. It is an oval shape, with that glass plating over it. The rest of it is made of metal, and there are small little holes dotting the inside walls. You carefully climb out of the 'pod'; but have a little trouble, as it feels as if you had been lying there your entire life.

Once out of the pod you take a look around. Square white and green tiles make up the walls, and they are clean as can be. The floor, however, is dirty and covered with dust and dirt, and even little pebbles. Obviously, this place has been here for a while, and many people have been through here.

There are two doors- one made of solid metal, and another made of wood. The wooden door looks very worn, and easy to break down. The metal one looks nearly impenetrable! Unfortunately, it is locked.

There is nothing else in the room, except for a gaping hole in the wall that seems like it collapsed. Stone rubble blocks any passage to it, and the blockage seems way too heavy to move.

see if the wooden door is locked. you don't know the place, so you might as well be silent, not to draw unnecessary attention to yourself.
and since this is a text adventure:
>look at wooden door

(Only the metal door is locked, the wooden door was unlocked.)

You walk over to the wooden door, and take a look at it. It is really weak, and very old. You could easily break it down. You slowly bring back your foot to kick it down. You take a deep breath in, and slam your foot against it. The door splinters and you make a gaping hole. You take another breath, and smash on the door again. As soon as your foot connects, you hear another banging...on the metal door. You quickly look over and see huge dents being pounded into what you thought was impenetrable. It looks like it's going to be broken down really soon!

Spoiler: New Game Mechanic (click to show/hide)

You feel very anxious. In a fit of desperation, you slam your shoulder against the door, tearing it down completely and falling into the room. Your shoulder really smarts! Ow ow ow. Dammit, why didn't you just open itttt..

You take a look around the room, quickly. There are many boxes around, and a vent above you. The boxes are quite big, but they look too fragile to climb on...maybe you can find something inside them?

You desperately dig through all the boxes, tossing them behind you as you find them empty or full of junk. In one you find a mirror, covered with a cloth and tied together with a piece of thread.. You put it down and keep looking, until you find that one of the boxes is completely solid. Something heavy must be in it. You grab the mirror and hop ontop of it, rip the grating off the vent, and climb inside. Behind you, you hear the door slam and fly from it's frame and hit the floor. Heavy feet stomp through the room and begin to get closer.

You crawl deeper into the vent, and you're sure you're safe. For now.
