Keeperlanced - Genesis Succesion
« on: November 18, 2010, 06:13:01 pm »

I decided to make a succesion after I realized that with the default Safely prepare for the journey in Genesis mod you can't upgrade skills. Anyway, there's an aquifer on half the map, a stream going through the middle, woodland, thick bruch, no aquifer on a mountain biome. I'm going first. Default sucesion rules : 1 year, don't ruin the fortress have fun.
Rule : No 1 year hoodoo, do as much as you can in three days. You get a few days to upload the save as well.
Players :
Me (Done)
MrNuke(Done)
Kipi(Done)
Argonnek(Done)
!!crundle!!(Current)

As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

Alright. So far I've got a single speardwarf who will patrol the edge of the small area around the entrance every third month. He/she is armed in full copper. Copper because we have so much. I have got a plump helmet farm going a few z-levels above the fort. Also, there's an entrance that I had dug into soil instead of rock so I quit that one. This is the first time I've gotten a patrol route set up! Also, we have 9 dwarves from the summer migration. This is late summer.

EDIT : It appears I am the most suited to becoming the manager...

Forgotten Beasts seem to be akin to Toady playing Russian Roulette with your fortress, as they can be anything from harmless giant worms made of mud to necrotic-gas spewing nigh-invunerable iron hydras of doom.

Sure! Also, are routes broken? Our military refuses to patrol.

Hmm...Not that I know of...

31.12 (The state genises is in) Did have a pretty stable military. There might be something wrong with the design of the fort...

Sure. Update this post with pictures in a minute.

Spoiler: Entrance (click to show/hide)

There's also a ridiculus amount of copper just everywhere and plenty of peat a few z-levels up. We also have a farm a few z-levels up too. The militia commander should be armed (AKA we have the armor/weapons) with full copper. We are on our way to making a second set.

Just after winter started, we noticed all our food was gone. We are now plant gathering and cooking at full pace. Sorry about the mess I left you. I got our food under control we aren't starving. Also, I forgot to change my title to Retired Ruler.

Prepare for long, rudementary storyline...k?

1st of Limestone, 251.

Everything is great. I got my ale, got my little house in the mountainholmes, and i am one of the greatest farmers of the area! I dont think anything could go wrong with my life at all, except for those long plump helmet streaks without meat. I suddenly hear the bartender.
"Hey, hey you, whatchya' name, Nuke, 'aint it?
"Close enough, whats happening?"
"Awww, nah'in much, but, you want to earn some gold coins?"
"Sure, I love my gold. What am i killing?"
"Awww, no kill'n man, this 'ere is som'in different. You ge' a chance to run a bloomin fortress mate, nam'd keeperedlance, ah think."
"Say, this fort got treasures?"
"Aww, got an abundance of raw metal mate."
"Seems like a small trip, how long."
"You forget mate, your runn'n the fort, for a a whole year."
"It will be fine, as long as its treasure lives up to your tale man. See ya next time."

I didnt know at the time, but that would be the worst mistake of my entire life. I just quickly packed my bags and headed off.

1st granite, 252
Your kidding me, this is it?! An abundance of ores, its all copper! Aww well, aint so bad i guess? Wait, waitwaitwaitwaitWAIT! NO BOOZE, OR FOOD! NOT EVEN OUTER WALLS! Im going to be spending a long time fixing this place up. Welcome to keeperlance!

What I could sketch of the fort so far.
Front entrance with planed ballista area.

Stock pile area with barracks.

Bedrooms and animal pit

And lastly, workshop area.

However, first thing is first...

FOOD AND BOOZE!!
