Mass Effect RTD: Turn 12 (A Show of Force)
« on: November 17, 2010, 11:32:39 pm »

The year is 2184. The galaxy is united under the rule of the Citadel Council (except for the Terminus Systems). However, all is not well; humanity is at war with a race of synthetics known as the geth, and the Citadel has been heavily damaged by an attack on the Citadel by the geth (haw) flagship, Sovereign. Citadel space is reeling from this catastrophe, and now, less lawful types want to take advantage of this situation.

An army of slavers, mercenaries and other criminal scum is forming in the Terminus. Nobody knows who's in charge, and that's where you come in. A Spectre (one of you) has been deployed, and s/he will follow Commander Shepard's example by forming a team of elite soldiers (the rest of you). You will find the leaders of this army. By killing them, you will cripple it. You must accomplish this mission before they're given a chance to mobilize.

Username: Dermonster (As you know XD)
Character name: Derek Richards
Species: Human
Class: Infiltrator
Equipment: Specter issue Pistol, SMG, and sniper rifle. Higher-than-standard-issue Shields.
Background: Due to being in the wrong place at the right time, Derek has been hailed as a minor hero among humanity for the defeat of (Data Corrupted)Skyllian Blitz(Data Corrupted)-nd was promoted to Specter half a year later. He has received a standard issue T3 tech set, heavily modified for survival purposes and has been trained as a Specter Class: Infiltrator. His personality to outsiders is that of a brave hero that stands against any odd and comes out on top.

In reality, however, he would like nothing else but to go home, barricade the front door, the windows, the barricades, the walls, and then the door again, and take a nap. Has on rare occasions been said to go to extreme lengths to keep himself out of harms way, and has been quoted saying 'Taking that vacation to (Data Corrupted)-ould have preferred to run in the other direction. I'm not a hero god dammit. I am TRYING to stay AWAY from danger. But you can't exactly say no to so many people praising your name. People just don't understand someone wanting to be in obscurity. Plus it looks suspicious.'

Regardless, Psychological profiles indicate a general willingness to make sure others survive along with him.

"Boring is good. It means that nothing deadly is around to be exciting at the moment."

Modeled loosely after Rincewind from Discworld. The 'backround' info is for the fourth wall only. Everyone In universe only knows about the 'brave' side.

I got the specific idea from [Data Redacted].

Off to bed. See you in 12 hours.

Yeah sure, why not. I loved playing Mass Effect, myself, near infinite replay value to me.

Username: Krath
Character name: Keith Travis
Species: Human
Class: Soldier
Equipment:  Hahne-Kedar 'Storm' Shotgun
Elkoss Combine 'Edge' Pistol
Aldrin Labs 'Onyx' Body Armor
Green Combat Vest (Worn over Body Armor)
Three Mark 14 High Explosive Grenades
Various special shotgun ammo clips in the pockets of his combat vest.
Background: A young man born into a military family, he hails from Earth. His mother and father are both in active duty in the Systems Alliance, and his older brother also became a helmsman on a battle cruiser. Following in his family's footsteps, he enlisted with the Systems Alliance when he was of age. He was off on shore leave during the Geth attack on the Citadel, and thus wasn't present for the battle. He has a fairly good track record in the military, and has seen numerous battles against the Geth forces in various points during the war.

He's received extensive training in the use of shotguns and rudimentary training in using a pistol. He's highly proficient at close-quarters and mid range combat. He's quite bulky and his preference for heavy armor doesn't allow him to perform stealth missions very well or move around quickly. However, he's stronger than the average man and moonlights as a mechanic in his spare time, giving him some knowledge on vehicles and how to operate them.

Well, I was thinking about a soldier, but it seems we have enough of those.  Let's go support class!

Username:Frelock
Character name: Kitonn Malithek
Species: Turian
Class: Engineer
Equipment: Standard issue SMG and Heavy Pistol, Light armor with custom-built shields, Omni-tool

Background: Kitonn was born on the Turian colony of Macedyn, and from a young age, was always particularly skilled at building things.  After intense studying, he joined with the Turian military engineering corps, where he worked diligently and was quickly promoted.  He was deployed to the citadel about two years ago, charged with the research and development of new weapon and shield systems for the Turian military.  Unfortunately, almost all of his team was wiped out in Sovereign's attack.  He had been hoping for a reassignment to another research post, but word from military command was simply to wait.  Since then, he's been drifting without military reassignment, making do with repairing small things on the Citadel, and looking over the shoulders of the keepers.

Username: Flintus10
Character Name: Charnak
Species: Batarian
Class: Shock Trooper (Vanguard)
Equipment: SMG, Shotgun, Heavy Shock armor.

Backround:
Much of Charnak's early years were spent in the Batarian systems where he was a member of on of the lower castes. And while he was one of few Bartarian's born with biotic potential it was largely wasted due to his low standing. Rather than continue the life of slavery and poverty that he was doomed to he snuck onto a ship that had been smuggling civilians out of the tightly guarded system and soon found himself in the Terminus systems where he was taken under the wing of a powerful slaver who had wanted to make the most of the unique abilities he posessed.

As he grew older Charnak became more and more adept at using his biotic abilities thanks to the training of other biotic slavers and soon he saw little need to remain with his group. Charnak was able to sneak into citidel space disguised as a Batarian merchant and soon he managed to dissapear from notice hiring himself out as a mercenary.

Charnak is mostly motivated by money but he does consider the dirtiest of jobs beneath him. He does not share the inherent dislike of humans that most of his species have and instead is more frustrated at his own people for their cowardly approach and caste based government. He is fine to work with others so long as he is paid.

Dermonster, Krath, Frelock, Flintus, you're all in. Lemon, you'll be added when you add a background (a solid one like the others, mind you. Not a bare-bones one).

Also, dermonster, does Derek's surname really need to be censored? It'd be kinda weird if people (especially the Council) only referred to him by his first name. :P

At the age of 15 Serina had to take longer hours and moved to the midnight shift to support the family but the hours took there toul on her, she developt a drinking habit and later moved onto drugs which ended her life.
At Serinas death a local mob came to Olaris with an unpayed debt that Serina had taken with death threats if it wasn't payed. She could already handle a gun pretty well and when tested to biotic abilities it was discovered she had a lot of untapped ability at her disposal. She kept on with the military fir many years in till she was 236, a small amount of time in an Asaris life, and rented her services out as a mercenary to anyone that would pay.
To this day she harbours a great distaste for organised crime rings and shows no mercy to criminals, for they showed none to her mother.

17 is very young for an asari. Probably too young to join the military, even. Still, I'll run with it.

You're both in. :) That makes six characters! I think I have room for one more, but if I don't get another sheet before the evening, we're starting.

Yer I was thinking about that while I was typing...

Should I put some filler in till shes 30 something? I think thats old enough? I can then push the age she leaves up a lot as she will be a lot older like other Asari. Most Asari live in till they're 1000 don't they?

I think Liara was like 50 and she was considered a 'teenager'

Make it like... 130 or something.

She was 106 in the game (around that) and she was considered only slightly older than a child.

So I'm going to do some rewriting now.
