Worldgen seems... a little different in 0.3.17+
« on: November 17, 2010, 01:16:49 pm »

The main thing I have noticed is that there are now lots of small lakes, which is cool because when I gen an arid high-desert world there are plenty of oases scattered about, which is probably a good thing.  Has anyone else noticed anything different?

I noticed the last bit (when legends and such are generated) seems much faster now and I don't have to stop doing everything else and focus the DF window while doing it. Very handy that!

I noticed that it takes me a lot longer to finalize art/sites/civs/etc. because it feeps freezing in the middle of it. Only one freeze per worldgen though, so it's okay.

You might be noticing an older change.  Back here the Toady One was talking about fiddling with rivers (and, possibly, the small lakes you mention) as part of the larger setup for real cities (with sprawl).

What I've noticed most recently is that the goblins don't seem to be "adopting" too many folks in worldgen.  A pity.  I like mixed-race ambush parties.
