I should, but I'm not going to. It's for if he decides to come back.

As the two Rabbits leapfrog through the ravine, their auspexes working to map it, they see a glint of metal in the distance. As they approach, it turns out to be a downed Valkyrie. They slowly make their way over to it, looking around for hostile anti air emplacements.

When they arrive, they find eleven corpses, including the pilot. The Valkyrie appears to be horribly rusted, most of it's paint flaking away in the wind. The regimental insignia is so rusted so much, to the point where you could see inside the troop bay. The corpses appear to be burned slightly, their skin tan and their uniforms dry and flaky.
"Sergeant!" A young trooper calls out. Seneca approached the trooper, not noticing what he was yelling about.
"What is it?" He said, slightly annoyed with the young trooper.
"This one, he's alive, sir," The trooper replied, crouching down next to a body.
"Is that so," Seneca said contemptuously, and kicked it, receiving a pained groan. Seneca grunted, and called Vross over.
"This one's alive, Vross. What can you do for him?" He said as the medic crouched down next to the unconscious drop trooper.
"Well, he appears mostly unharmed, besides a few cuts and bruises. It's a miracle, really." The said as he medic examined the trooper's dog tags.
"Trooper Ulkar Metrus. That's all I can make out, the rest is unreadable."
"Well," Seneca said, turning to the young trooper, "pick him up, we can't leave him here."
As the young trooper carried the survivor to his half-track, he woke with a shout, and squirmed his way off of the trooper's shoulders, landing in the sand, sputtering. The rest of the squad jumped at the sound, and ran over.

Seneca put a hand on the scared man.
"Calm down, it's alright, trooper." He said reassuringly.
"Who... who are you? What's happened to my squad?" The trooper said with wide, scared eyes.
"It's alright, your  Valkyrie was downed, but you're alright. I wish I could say the same for your squad, but you're alright. What were you doing flying out here any way? We weren't supposed to have any air support til we got to the hive. My name is Seneca Hostilian, and my squad here found your Valkyrie." Seneca said, glancing around at the squad.

"What? Hive? What're you talking about? There are no hives on Argan IV."

Explain to Ulkar where he is and question him about what he knows. Tell my squad to keep looking for anything that might help us or tell us what happened.

There's about 25 of the fuckers and the three sarge killed were at point blank range - it's got to be zombies or a bunch of really dumb terrorists with knives.

"Seneca, he doesn't seem like a Cadian. His eyes ain't violet. He's a Vostroyan or an Elysian, I can tell, probably never learned how to properly strip a lasgun. And yes sir. I'll go search the area."
Phantom scans the area for anything of interest besides the crashed Valkyrie.
(Note: Phantom likes insulting non-Cadians. Even if they are like Cadians.)

What was the last thing you saw, trooper?

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.

"Damnation! UP with you trooper we're guardsmen and not some Earth-Casters playing in the dirt!" Ulrick strodes over to the trooper, grabs him roughly by the shoulder and pulls him up.

Ulrick glares at him for a moment.
"Name, Rank and your Regiment Trooper!"
a look of pity goes over his face
"And clean your uniform we might be on a godamn Desert Planet but thats no excuse for looking like a Grox-Herder!"
