Nice work Japa!

Will it be possible to set a z-level cutoff so we can take the top off the caverns and into forts?

Not doable, unfortunately. Use stonesense for that.

Well, it could be possible, but it'd have to be all or nothing. either all of the tiles are cut, or none of them.

All as in all above a certain z-level or as in no map would be visible?

That could be interesting. The main reason I ask is that I've seen a fair few nice single level forts and figure they'd look nice with the new mode.  Getting to see some of the cavern layers and lower might also be nice. If we ever end up with buildings at the bottom of the world it would, again, be nice to see them.

Well, I for one am looking forward to being able to print out an entire map tile by tile and assemble it on my ceiling.  It's something I've been itching to do "diorama style" using cut foam pieces for awhile, but I've been stuck on how to do this and also keep within fire-code (rental agencies can be so uptight about that!).  Being able to print these out and stick them on poster-board tiles will be the next best thing, I think.

When I'm done, I'll be able to lie on the floor and finally look "down" at my creation like a proper god in the heavens.

Just read an article about 3D printing. Combine that and isoworld, now that would be awesome.

That would be something!  Of course, even with each z-level only being 1/8 inch high, 400 z-levels would still take up over four feet.  Guess I'd have to gen a map with all the mountains at the edges, eh?

(speaking of bioprinting, check out this TED talk - it's really amazing.) http://www.ted.com/talks/anthony_atala_printing_a_human_kidney.html

You could cut it down a bit by only printing z100 - z 400.  IIRC everything surface level under z 101 is ocean.   Also might not wanna print caverns, structural integrity of those things are questionable, no matter what direction gravity is pulling, and you won't be able to see them anyway.

That seems to be a newer version, it includes a dfhack plugin. Is it the one that does local maps? I can't get it to work.

That's the new version, yes. It needs DFhack r3 to work. More instructions when I do a full release.
