I'm floating the idea of a bay12 secret santa.

Basically we give gifts anonymously, as determined by a RNG, to a person we are assigned. Whether you later choose to tell them who it's from is up to you.

I would run it, so I would know where all the gifts should go, as the creepy monk I am (I'm trustworthy enough, aren't I?), and would call out anyone who doesn't send.

Registration would have to begin soon and we would have to discuss costs, shipping before Christmas. If we have at least a couple people interested, I mean, heck - we can just send crafts or little knick-knacks to each other, but I figure it could be worth a few good larks.

So, any brave takers - post here.

Post your country of origin so I can determine how viable international Secret Santa would be.

Hmmm... this could be pretty neat!

I'll think about it.

I'd definitely be interested in this... and with Kael acting as mediator, I wouldn't worry so much about sharing my address (not that it doesn't change every 6 months, but hey!)

My income is carefully budgeted though... and I tend to get quirky gifts for people, or handcraft gifts so long as folks don't mind that sort of thing. This could be a lot of fun!

I think it's a great idea, but I'm not going to participate in it due to my laziness.

I like this.
However I'm terrible at gift-picking, so I'll probably pass.

I might be interested. Forewarning though -- international shipping charges are a BITCH. I did something similar to this on an old forum (HotU) and wound up paying a ridiculous amount to ship a small tin of cookies to Australia.

That is likely the biggest hurdle you are going to find doing this

I'd participate in this. If international shipping is too much, then maybe we can have each continent of people go into a different 'pool', and people only trades gifts to people that are on their continent.

I'm afirad I'm not adventurous enough to go in the first round. If it goes good this year, I would most likely be up for it next year.

Also, i would recommend having a few rules, such as:
-maximum price
-nothing that would be inappropriate for non-adults
-depending on how long it would take for delivery, no perishables

 No weapons.
 ...
I do have some sweet knives people can have and it would be an awesome gift, but shipping them would be quite painful.

I might do this. Mayhaps. I can drop $10 for shipping so I just need to find something interesting to gift. Perhaps ship a CD in my Alone in the Dark CD case to trick somebody.

I think I'm along with everyone else on this in the not-doing department. International shipping may be a bit of an issue. Plus, I tend to be lazy and finances are a minor trouble as well. I was, however, okay with using Steam for giving gifts. Might do that again, but not be as reckless as last time. That was a bitch and a half to recover from.

International shipping is difficult but there are workarounds. Small gifts, and the fact that we're starting this now so we have no worries about expedited shipping overseas for large objects. You can buy things from amazon.co.uk for Europeans and other websites instead of mailing from your house and Australia might have have it's own pool or I'll send them a little something myself. If everyone's only concern is international shipping I'll see what can be done.

I realise the economy is generally shit everywhere and no one has money, but you can do this with minimal investment. Heck, make a mix cd of music, papercraft, drawings - it's the thought that counts.

Seems standard to me.

TL;DR: If you are interested, post and say what country you're in. I will figure out the logistical nightmare stuff.

I'm totally up for this. Always a fun thing to get stuff in the mail.

No real opinion on any of the planning thingies, I don't have the best Internet connection at the moment.
