Seriously though your best option is to talk it out with someone close and who you trust or to seek professional help to get over whatever it was. There is a reason the phrase 'A problem shared is a problem halved' exists.

The problem with forgetting an issue but not dealing with it is that the brain never actually forgets anything, it just shoves it into the subconcious.

I have a very close friend who has developed a severe dis-associative disorder, and while she is still highly functional, she forgets the majority of even mildly unpleasant instances, and some good ones. But because her subconscious is still aware of the damage she's still deeply bothered by certain triggers, without knowing why. I don't usually have the heart to remind her, and she tends to forget chunks of time when I do.

It sounds like you're asking for something like that, and I can tell you from seeing what its done to her, no one deserves that.
