I wish people would live their lives more.
« on: November 14, 2010, 05:34:05 pm »

I went on an adventure to kill a crone with a swordsman buddy of mine. Unfortunately, I was struck down, but I stuck around long enough to see him manage to kill her. I took down his name, and went into fortress mode for a good number of years.

After that fortress crumbled, I decided to check that swordsman's Legends page. He didn't have a single entry after killing the crone, which bummed me out. I hoped he would settle in some town so I could start a new adventurer and go find him.  Would he still just be standing at that crone's lair, doing nothing?

On the flip side, I fought a kobold, bit out both its eyes, and then let it live. Same deal with fortress-ing for a few years, and then checking her legends page. She hadn't done anything, though she was still alive. I wish there was some way to hunt down people and groups based on their Legends page.

Anyone else have similar stories?

It's a known thing - worldgen history stops in time when you start playing and never starts up again. There have been suggestions of a "end of year report + let's advance worldgen by 1 year" feature of sorts.

Congrats, Psieye. This is the first time I've seen a derailed thread get put back on the rails.

We will get living worlds in time. Once more stuff gets implemented, this will be as well.

Our demands from Toady are high, but he can (and does) deliver.

But some dark night, when everything is silent in the town I'll shoot those tyrants one and all, I'll gun the flogger down. I'll give the land a little shock, remember what I say, and they'll yet regret they've sent Jim Jones in chains to Botany Bay."

Sounds like a memory hog having a living world simulating every second in the background. As if we didn't have any fps problems as it is.

Edit: But I agree, it'd be neat.

Lol.
some things in what the bot advertises should be in the game.
Like custom clothing!
Wait what... Trains not included? What type of farmoking wedding dresses are we talking about here? What kind of wedding dress includes trains? Is it a train dress? Or a dress for trains?

Anyway, stuff like FLOORS!... wait we already have them... though none in houses...
Tea! a new drink!
Intermission of some sorts! (I know for a fact that THAT is in the dev blog, just under a diff name.)
STREETS! OH ARMOK YES! PROPER STREETS! Speaking of streets, who misses the old town style from adventure mode? the new style is just confusing as hell, i wish the map was proper, like you could switch views, ill do a suggestion thing for this...

MINIS!
I think the cars... well horses will be used as mounts, so thats sorted!
NON-TRADITIONAL LOCATIONS! Wait... what? There are traditional locations?
And SALONS! for some reason....

I like the new towns, but I think a better map would make it perfect.

there is an image of the goblin Utes Gozrusrozsnus and dwarves in elf bone. The goblin is making a plaintive gesture. the dwarves are striking a menacing pose.
this image relates to the slaying of Utes Gozrusroz

The towns are... ok... but you cant find ANYTHING in short notice.
There should be like three zoom levels  and fast travel equivelent.
Smallest map (largest amount of distance covered) - the old adventure map of yore, how i miss it, think of it as the Q map.
Medium map -  (medium amount of distance covered) - the adventure maps of NOW.
Largest map - ( The smallest amount of distance covered) -  The adventure maps which would show things like location of buildings in town and stuff.
