I didn't get the 1000. They ran out of codes before I could register because it took nearly an hour for the registration e-mail to reach me. All of my hate for Alienware.

D1 Or H35? It seems like H35 is superior in every aspect...

Same. Registered when there was still 6000 codes, got it a few hours after the end.

They're both bad. H35 has a bit more armor, but D1 has a bit more HP. They both lead to equally terrifying tanks (to play) : the duck and the B1
The french tanks are really not easy to play. The first tiers are armored, slow, outgunned and from tier V they are faster, less armored but with good guns. Honestly, except if you plan to grind to really higher tiers to play in platoon, clan or such, don't go french tanks.
If you really want, choose the H35, because it leads to ELC (after the duck), which is one of the most fun tank, IMO.

It's worth playing through the French light line for the ELC. The darned thing is a viable combatant against T8 mediums and heavies, is fast and agile, and has a tiny profile. You can hide in tiny dips in the ground and drive up under the lowest gun depression angle of a lot of larger tanks. Just about the only downside it has is that it's a limited-traverse gun, more like a wide-angle TD than a true turret, and that's not a massive issue because the reload time makes it a sniper/hit & run fighter anyways.

And then there are the times you get put in T5 matches with it. :D

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

When I'm playing arty against a team with an ELC, my first reaction upon spotting it in the same half of the map as me is to scream for everyone to priority-target it. On a wider note I honestly have a hard time believing how many people apparently think that it's okay to ignore a light tank if it has moved past them. Too much effort to traverse their turret 100 degrees or so to stop lights from massacring the arty and harassing the TDs, eh? :x

Well, if the time it would take for your turret to traverse would allow another enemy tank to explode your own...

Keeping arty alive > taking another shot at the enemy line. Virtually no exceptions. Keeping arty up is almost always more important to the success of the team than your survival or you putting another shell down-range. That aside, most tanks can take a shot or two from their peers without too much harm. Arty can't take a light circling them. Hell, even being lit up is usually a death sentence if enemy arty is competent. Unless you're in the sights of a 152mm KV-2 or a tank that's 2 tiers above yours, turning your turret away for the few seconds it takes to either pop a light or miss as it gets to cover isn't fatal. Letting a light in among your arty is.

All of that aside, if you're in a firing position that is remotely acceptable you should be able to get behind a rise or building in the time it takes to traverse your turret. Eh, maybe I'm in the minority, but I'm willing to give up personal gain if it's for the sake of a meaningful contribution towards victory. Hell, if you're driving a scout at all you need to develop that attitude, and once you have it it's there to stay.  :-\

What I mean is, if you start to turn after said light and you explode before you can kill it (either because of a lolcrit or taking fire from multiple sources), you've basically sacrificed yourself for nothing. The enemy light will make it to the arty unmolested (unless your team had other lights defending the arty), and your team is now down a tank that could have dealt some damage to the enemy team.

It might work in some circumstances, but it seems like you're just letting yourself be killed for no reason.

If you're in a situation where you're going to be completely wrecked in the next 1-2 seconds and can do nothing about it but shooting back one last time, you probably screwed up badly at some point. That, or most of your team lemminged, and you're on the low end of your team's roster. I have never been popped like that except when I'm being accurately shelled by 2-3 tanks 2+ tiers above me, or if I've been tracked and pounded on out in the open by half the enemy team for several seconds prior to that. It's honestly sort of difficult to get into that sort of position without outside assistance (read: most of your team suicide-rushing) unless you're trying to draw fire.

Basically, if you're already about to die in the early-mid stages of the match (when lights typically try to break through the lines), something's usually wrong. Have you honestly never had a situation where you and the friendlies on your side of the map are trading shots with the enemy line, all behind cover and concealment, when a light tries to rush past?

I mean, yeah, if you're in melee range with the enemy heavies or a wolf-pack of mediums, ignore the lights. But if you've got coherent lines and a light drives right past you, why wouldn't you shoot at him?  ???

I've gotten put into T8 matches in a Pz. I C. The first thing I do is charge as fast as I can to the enemy side, to spot their arty. After that, it's just a game of cat and mouse as I zoom around taking pot shots at them.

I've been killed once by arty in my ELC. I was hugging-circling an AMX arty, waiting for the reload, and another arty shot here, killing me and his team mate arty  :P

In other news, had a joyful encounter with a friendly M7 pushing my Hellcat over a cliff after I agreed with someone else that him platooning with an LTraktor was a dickish thing to do.
