I'm just glad that the new update is confusing those who don't have as much skill as those who have been grinding to get the tanks they want, causing them to actually think about what to do, because for some you can't just charge into battle with the biggest premium tank their money can buy. I mean they can do that, but it won't get them that far :P

Gonna be strange with EU time, but joining the NA server now, in hopes of finding languages (ENGLISH) I understand, events that actually give something (other than the infrequent 3x exp, we rarely get anything more than half price tanks that I threw out or elited quick and a long time ago)..

and perhaps more intelligent players, but that's probably only a distant miracle...

Heh, well we get our share of terrible events too. And our share of idiots... but at the very least I can promise you that English is going to be the language of choice.

even on the NA server, you will sometimes find languages other than English. Daily doubles and daily triples happen quite a bit. but like Rex has said, English is going to be the language of choice for most players.

Welcome to NA server! I must say EU players were more polite/mature from my experienced in Closed Beta but yeah at least you can speak in English and get replied to in NA server.

BTW I am of those bi-lingual speaking players. :P

Most of them are to cast debuff on enemy players. Usually works better than trying to buff my own team.

Does the server reticle still work? I see a checkbox in the menu for it, but it seems to look and work exactly like a normal reticle?

If this makes you feel better, I once saw someone with 19,000 (yeah that's three zeroes) with 40% win rate.

How pay 2 win is this, say, compared to Tribes: Ascend? In T:A it seems like it just takes forever for you to get anything. I like the gameplay so far, so I keep playing a match or so a day to get the "first win" bonus... considering World of Tanks since it might be integrated with World of Warplanes later :)

Anything that I say assume no Premium account (extra 50% credits and experience per battle).

There are 10 tiers of tanks. Tier 5 is supposed to be the sweet spot to earn credits, but my experience tells me that Tier 6-7 are better at making credits.

Tier 8 is my personal sweet spot because if you perform well, you make a bit of credits, not enough for consistent credit grinding, but more than enough to cover your running costs. If you play badly, you lose credits. Tier 9-10 are supposed to make zero credits and in most cases credit losses but they are primarily used in Clan Wars (consider it the end-game content).

There are two "pay-to-win" related complaints:
1. Matchmaking system that allows mid tier tanks to be in a high tier battles. For example, a KV-2 at Tier 6 has a chance of being placed in a Tier 9 battle. This makes it hard for mid tier players to tier up; and
2. Tier 8 Premium Tanks. This allows whoever buys them to go to Tier 8 straight away.

However, on the positive side, if you play without a Tier 8 Premium Tank, by the time you get to your first Tier 8, you'd have accumulated enough experience (literally, not "experience points" in-game) to deal with most of the tanks you have faced before. Also those Tier 8 Premium Tanks driven by bad players are easy pray to well-played Tier 6 tanks upwards.

The game is pretty grindy, because the only progression is to "tier up" (upgrade). There are no "sidegrades" like MechWarrior Online, but I have kept most of my fully-researched tanks just because they are fun. And the charm of the game is with a click of a button, you go into the battle. It's best played with friends in a Platoon.

If you need any help, let us know. There are some really good old-time players here like Rex_Nex. I personally specialise in French and German medium tanks.

To be honest, the only pay to win tank that i've seen is the type 59 but they took that out of the store. Almost any tank can be penned with almost any gun if you know where to aim. My amx38 took out a PzIV (which should never happen, ever) because I pinned him into a corner and shot the hell out of his fuel tank.

There's a few strictly pay-to-win mechanics, but they are rarely used. These would be gold ammo (higher pen... translates into bouncing less shots and thus doing more damage) and gold consumables (which are very expensive and no one likes using them in pubs since there isn't a huge benefit.). Gold ammo is one of my major gripes with the game as far as systems go, but in gameplay terms its uncommon to "feel the difference" between a gold user and a normal user.

The grind gets pretty bad, but not Korean MMO level. Its... Russian MMO level! They get pretty intense pretty fast, but with a lot of free time you can get even the final tanks in a matter of a week or three. You can blaze through the first 4 tiers in one sitting, so the grind scales with tier pretty hard.

If you need any help, let us know. There are some really good old-time players here like Rex_Nex.

Says the person who made the thread that got me into the game :D

Buri knows a lot too, and so do a few other members (Rilder and dogstile come to mind, along with Jopax). They are all reliable sources of "how to win at internet tanks".

The game isn't grindey if you don't want it to be. Most tanks are pretty fun to play, and most of them are pretty unique in their playstyle so there's pretty much a tank for anybody.

The grind only becomes apparent if you want a certain tank badly and want it fast, this means many battles on a single tank, which personally can get very annoying sometimes. Otherwise it's pretty much just playing matches with tanks for fun, something I've been doing a lot of lately, the grind for T9-10's got boring so I got a bunch of lower tier tanks and am plugging away with them currently.

That and the news about T10 TD's and meds kinda ruined the whole thing for me, I can't look the Jtiger the way I used to :c
