Good try trying to use your diabetic child as an excuse, but, and it saddens me every day that this is the case, there aren't enough doctors to go around even among the developed nations
...Really?  Most developed nations have enough, it's more just a matter of availibility...

Oh hell most people do realize that.

They just have subconscious assumptions about people.

This will never change.
Even though it has?  I mean, it's not perfect yet, but racial integration has come a long way.

So, your saying people have stopped making subconcision assumptions?

What's 1+1?

I didn't say we'd stopped making subconscious assumptions, just that we've changed.  Change does not have to be complete.

Or are you saying we make exactly the same assumptions about, say, black people as we did in the time of slavery?

And I never assumed 1+1=2.  I understand the logic behind it, and have seen it work in reality many times.

When I first posted that, it was about getting rid of assumptions all together.

Also, you assume your logic is logical, and everyone else you've seen do it was right.

Yes.  But you said "that will never change" which is either saying "our assumptions will never change" or making a massive fallacy ("because we will always have assumptions, those assumptions will always be bad and prevent us from having equality").  What I'm saying is, yes, we will always prejudge people, but the way we prejudge people and the way we act on that prejudgement can be changed a lot.

Also, you assume your logic is logical, and everyone else you've seen do it was right.
No.  Fundamentally, logic is built from the ground up.

And I can do "1 + 1 = 2" on my own, whenever I like.  Take one apple.  Add another apple.  How many apples do you have now?

No, you assumed that reality is logical and you then applied logic to deduce that the concept of one plus the concept of one equals the concept of two. Bitches.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

It is so much worse then that.

There certainly is a lack of doctors in the western world. In many countries there are long waiting lists for some services, while in some others they are having problems finding specialists to fill the vacants.

Wrong. You have to work of basic axioms, which are assumed. You can extrapolate off these axioms, but everything is dependent on them. An example of such axioms would be:
(a+b)+c=a+(b+c)
a+b=b+a
etc

Can't we just assume the axioms of naive set theory and move on?

Seriously.

Why do threads like this always include someone who disrupts and begs for the discussion to cease?  It's not like we're invading your bedroom to blast Miley Cyrus at you in your sleep.  There's always someone who acts like this is exactly what's happening though.  Can't you just accept that some people are drawn to subjects such as these and get on with your life?  Personally, I have nothing better to do.  I have a mind-numbing job and need some kind of intellectual stimulation just to keep myself awake.  I rarely go near this kind of thing outside of work.
