It seems to me that. in most of the strategy games hosted here, pre-game diplomacy plays a particularly large role in who wins (or who would win if we GMs weren't a lazy bunch that refuse to finish a game). I bring you now a non-zero-sum game, of an undisclosed number of iterations, played almost entirely through PMs. I have already decided how many rounds there will be, but none of you will know when the final round is before the game ends. The winner will decide what form game I host next, and will have a reserved spot. (Note that I cannot guarantee more then ten rounds of a game. No, my old games aren't abandoned.) Additionally, points may be consumed to add or subtract to a role in forum games I host.

I'm in.

So, is it possible to declare launching nukes, then not launch any?

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

I'll play.

Yes. Think of it as launching non-nuclear missiles, which other people will panic over. Those could be nuclear missiles, and who would be foolish enough to start a nuclear war using decoys?

There should be a minimum time before the launch could happen.  Someone could F5 the thread repeatedly until you open, PM you targets, then launch before anyone else could.  Round one it'd probably just get them nuked repeatedly later, but it could be a game breaker on the last round.

There is 24 hours between announced launch and actual launch.

If somebody can launch nukes immediately, and then manage to get people on their side within 24 hours after being the person to start a global catastrophe, they deserve a win.

If they don't even try, then they're probably trolling. I haven't mentioned my methods of picking who gets in on what round.

Oh wait, I misread that- I thought the claim of LAUNCHING was the cutoff point for putting in targets, not the 24h later mark.

Sure, why not?  I'll in.  No pithy remark because I got beaten to the War Games reference.
