So, tomorrow, if I can schedule it, what game are we playing?

And why do you not already own X-Com?
I only started actually gaming about two years ago. By then the only place you could get X-COM was on Steam. No way in HELL I'm supporting that.
What do you have against Steam?
Call it irrational or inaccurate, because it probably is, but I hate them for taking good money away from developers, and I think they are corporate assholes who don't know the first thing about gaming.

EDIT: Just checked: Gog doesn't have it.
Check Gamersgate.

Taking money away from developers: Shockingly enough, game publishers and game distributors do that.  It's how they make money.  However, Valve doesn't take a huge cut of the sales, compared to some, according to Tripwire's president John Gibson.

Corporate assholes who don't know the first thing about gaming: ...okay, so you don't like Valve's games and methods.  Understandable.  Kind of hard to say they don't know the first thing about gaming, though.

I'm personally a Valve supporter: they make games I like, they hugely support modders, and their DRM, while still annoying DRM, is mild compared to the rest (...UBISOFT!).

Back on the original topic, Transformice is another fun free multiplayer game.

Or... You could.. you know... Buy the games from the actual developers. There are a huge number of game companies that are small and make wonderful games, and then people buying through a middle man cuts them out of a huge amount of money.

Essentially, it's a choice between less sales but more money from each sale, and more sales but less money from each sale, with the occasional case of a self-published game becoming popular and selling a lot of copies (and even then, never quite making as much money as most big-name mainstream games).

Game companies have to figure out what sales method will be best for them overall.  Some choose to sell the games directly, some choose to sell them through stores (both online and offline), and some get other companies to deal with their stuff for them.  In the end, I won't oppose stores for trying to actually make money off of their sales, as long as the developers make a worthwhile amount of money (as in enough that they're happy with what's going on) too.

All-important original topic stuff: While Allegiance is a great game, we should announce it a week in advance.  It has a steep enough learning curve that we should probably give people some time to get slightly used to the game.

So, for tomorrow, WZ2100 or Subvein? Allegiance doesn't seem to have much interest, though I'm sure we could have it gain some, and yeah, that's the kind of thing to announce a week in advance. Toribash is awesome but it only has two player multiplayer.
I don't actually have a server, so Smokin' Guns and Tribes 2 aren't viable yet.

WZ2100 would be nice.

Haven't tried Subvein yet.

Toribash multiplayer, while effectively only having two people actually playing at a time, allows for multiple people on the server waiting to play.  Rounds tend to be short, so it would still be worthwhile.

Edit: Stable or Beta?

I have stable downloaded.
Is 3:00 GMT good for you guys, or would you prefer it later?
Actually, scratch that, that'd put EST players at 10:00.

I could provide a server for Infiniminer or UFO:AI tomorrow, but it would be liable to extreme lag and crashing, with no maintainer available, or I could probably boot up my old desktop computer, but it would take till afternoon tomorrow EST to get set up, although it could run a server to any of the free games, while still being liable to crashing, but I would be there to maintain it.

Huh. Then we might be running Infiniminer next week, or tomorrow. People wanted to play WZ2100, though.

5 PM GMT would work(a few hours later would be better though), though the likeliness that I'm going to get Warzone downloaded are near zero...unless my internet likes me today.

I can manage 10 pam -7 GMT, so 5 GMT's good. Are we doing anything in the way of mods, etc? The latest beta, at least, has three with the default installer. 'bout to grab 2.3.5 and see how it goes about doing things 2.3.5 has the same ones.

How are we connecting to each other? IP, lobby?

EDIT: I think I'ma print this out early tomorrow. So terribly useful for getting to my precious artillery emplacements efficiently :P
