The youtube commenters seem to be liking it, or at least half of them are.

I often wonder how much of that is actually posted in jest.  Then I remember how fucking idiotic a lot of people are.  I bet most of those comments are from people whose closest military experience is playing Call of Duty with big-screen surround-sound.

When I see people drooling over weapons, goose-stepping and how COOL IT IS TO MURDER PEOPLE LIKE MAAAN THINK ABOUT IIIT!!!!!11!!1!!! my brains just turn a Godwin on me. Militarism would likely be a better word, but utterly ridicilous either way. The comments on the original are fun. Especially how anything slightly critical has been censored.

edit - Regarding comments, take into account how the US Armed Forces are increasingly affected by apocalyptic Christians. That is visible even on the video, with the praying and whatnot. Apocalyptic charistmatic evangelicals tend to be, as a rule, pretty...eccentric bunch. It is a pretty dangerous thing for them to gain more and more control over the military. Israel is actually having the same problem with fundamentalist jews in the military academies.

There are loads of articles about the phenomenon online, this is just the first I googled which was at least somewhat comprehensive (wanted to leave at least one link):

The problem with the "Warrior Video Parody" is that the only parody bit is the title. Otherwise the song works just as well with Nazi militarism. Which of course means that bona fide neo-nazis will soon recycle the video into one of theirs.

I'm not entirely sure what you're suggesting here, but I'm thinking it has something to do with you being European.
No.

The song has no patriotic elements.  It could just as easily apply to any country's military.  "We're awesome, we'll kill all our enemies".

After the silence on Remembrance Sunday... this is really starting to bother me.

It's just... dumb.  There's nothing heroic or glamorous about having your legs taken off by an IED.  There's nothing exciting or fun about being blown up in your home.  There's nothing awesome or cool about the intense difficulties you may face readjusting to civilian life, or battling nervous conditions you received in conflict.

I appreciate that war can be necessary in order to defend your country or sometimes other countries... but it should just be a necessary evil.  It shouldn't be glamourised for its own sake.

I believe that is the whole point. Not making a Neo-Nazi video but showing how just change a few images and it is a Nazi song. Of course a real Nazi song wouldn't show fallen Nazis or results of the atrocities or Nûrnberg trials. Brainless, aggressive nationalists are the same everywhere and equally dangerous.

There's also a version for the Marines featuring "Chesty" Puller.

"You are the First Marines and there's not enough Communists in hell to overrun you!"

If any of you don't know who "Chesty" was, take a pair of scissors and mail your testicles to the Marine Servicewoman Enhancement Center on Paris Island.

*googles*

... right.... and why exactly are we supposed to know who this guy is?

TBH by the emphasis you placed on "Chesty" I was expecting "Chesty Puller" to be some kind of porn actress.

That version at least has some patriotic content. Eagle eagle, 200 year wing stretch.

The comments about the guitarist are... baffling.

Well of course you wouldn't know, being Russian and having the job title "Chairman". We all know what that's code for.

I honestly don't understand what is so horrifying about the first one. It is a song about fighting and killing. Not a good thing surely, I know that if world peace was a option I would surely go for it, but it is not. People fight, people die, some people are proud to be defending others. I don't understand how this song has anything to do with a governmental style.
