It’s well worth playing through, especially with High Chaos.

Completed it twice, first time i didn't took much time to get every runes and bones and took no risk by just killing anyone on Corvo's path to vengeance, that often degenerated in big fights with a lot of running away and coming back to stab from behind or shoot bolts to everyone in the face.
2nd playthrough was me trying to play as much as possible without any kill (still had some kills listed because i wasn't aware than simply letting knocked out people fall in a stair is always going to kill the unconscious guys/gals) , trying to never be seen and fetching everything i could.
It was much more stealthy nearly like playing Thief-like and very refreshing in comparison to the 1st time.

Both ways to play provided their own fun.

Only played once the nice Daud campaign (the Knife of Dunwal + Brigmore Witches DLC for Dishonored ) in the most in-character way : basically the master assassin just killing everyone on his way :D
Will have to try the stealth/non lethal method one day.

By a reasonable metric I "Died". Landed on the planet with a ground-based disintegrator you need to shut down to take off from. The building that you shut it down from spawned with three tunnels leading from the stairs and each of them ended in an indestructible wall, so I couldn't shut it down.

Wish I knew how to code so I could fix some of these bugs. I also can't dock at the space stations because they're all hostile for literally no reason. Took off, landed on a planet, tried to return and they refuse to let me dock.

I have enjoyed it, but failing my goals because of bugs in two run-throughs of the first mission isn't a good start. I know it's a Bethesda game, but that's still a lot of bugginess.

Edit: Trying to fix the bugs the second time means I no longer have a good save during the first mission, and would have to restart the first mission yet again. Not worth it. At least the game was worth the $0 I paid; I'd have been upset if I paid more.

Yeah, that's a great game that is hampered by bugs.

It's a bit saddening, really. I need to have another hunt and see if someone else has picked it up since it went open source. It's such a good game when it works, and manages to keep you on your toes the whole game while still rewarding you. Sure, you can tear through regular planets when you have a disintegrator or two and map them with ease when you have a ground penetrating radar and sensor suite, but then there's stuff like the factory planet which will kill you dead even with endgame weaponry.

Accidentally hit an iron golem trying to mine a block as it walked in front of me. Was promptly smacked to pieces.

Minecraft of course.

I finally got around to playing Dishonored. I'm on my first real mission: kill the head overseer. First playthrough, I got him, but failed to save some guy, and missed a lot of treasure. So I replayed the end. Now the plot point to get him to leave the room with his guest and guards won't fire. I'll see tomorrow if I still have the interest to play through that part of the mission a third time.

Strange, i did that mission several time to see some consequences (to see what happens if i let Curnow drink the poison, or if i switch the glasses or if i put poison in both glasses or just remove the glasses) but it never bugged on me.
Are you staying in the conference room long enough for Campbell to try to open the door himself (it's stuck so someone in the locked room will open it for him and Curnow) ?

But i never followed both men leaving the conference room and heading to Campbell place (near the kennels), i always acted in the conference room by either doing the lethal way (kill Campbel while shooting Curnow unconscious with a sleeping arrow and bring his body to the designated location to protect him from the other harm) or do the non lethal stuff (shoot both men unconscious then go do the torture device branding on Campbell and hide Curnow)

The first time they both ran through the room and down to the secret room as soon as I went through the window, and Curnow was listed as killed. Second time the same thing happened when I opened the door, so I reloaded and went through the window. I watched them through the keyhole for around half hour to see if anything would change, but nothing happened.

Ah that's the difference with my experience, of the few times i replayed that mission i never followed them to Campbell secret room, i always took care of my mission objective lethally or non-lethally (and optional Curnow rescue) either in the conference room or in the corridor they will walk when they leave said room (if i broke both glasses).
Looks like that Campbell secret room may have an easily broken script.
edit : if you don't hide Curnow unconscious body in the designated dumpster he will be listed as killed (as Campbell had a few overseer in his plot to kill him, so even getting rid of Campbell will not save Curnow if he's left in the Overseer building at the end of the mission)

Yeah, but my choices the first time were to follow them, or just not complete the mission. The second time I was only given the option to not complete the mission. It's this new thing called a bug, where the game doesn't act right, so I'm not able to do things as intended.

Skyrim was an interesting game in that it was really hard to improve unarmed fighting damage output beyond a few racial traits.  But they still expected you to be able to win a few fistfights with some chonky opponents.  You can restore yourself mid-fight and you can use spells to armor yourself, but I found the mechanics of it a little silly.

And Elder Scolls in general have issues with people just walking into your attacks.

In Morrowind, I have trouble keeping escortees alive, because they keep trying to help me in fights but instead get hit by me accidentally.

In Oblivion, I remember a case where a Mythic Dawn person attacked me at an inn, and a patron decided to jump between us, trying to punch her, as I was swinging my (daedric) sword. The patron died instantly. I was charged with murder and the 9 divines forbade me wearing their armor.

Yeah, escort missions are either showing off that they made a game so well that the game doesn't get in your way *even on an escort mission*, or it's a way of telling the customer you hate them and made a trash game to show how much you hate them.

You can tell by the number of good escort missions people talk about which one is more common.

Seems to me Al-Mahzrah has become the mid-tier difficulty map now they've added a new one. First time I dropped in I was almost immediately two-tapped by an AI, second I basically made a line to the exfil which took twenty minutes (1km away, easy in five, less with a vehicle which I had) and tore my way through a mess of 71 tier one and two bots (That's ignoring the ones I gave up fighting and just ran past), third time I got splattered by a bunch of tier threes within five minutes because they were firing full auto and seemed to suffer neither recoil nor flinching.
