Played FTL again after a couple years.

Not a great reintroduction. For some reason I had all the accuracy of a drunkard, the enemies had the accuracy of snipers, and about half of all the nodes I jumped to were some form of navigation hazard. Shops were few and far between too, so repairs were rare.

I have a monstrous team, able to push back the turn of any hostile, including bosses, off the time bar as soon as it comes up, including my strongest one being an instant. I have three instant-cast stuns that can target anything on the field. My tank has a monstrous amount of reflect damage, damage reduction, regen shields, taunt capabilities, and life. My DPS is high, but not stellar.

I'm able to take out the second to last boss without taking any damage. The last boss has landed a few nasty hits on my support (since game mechanics prevent 100% stunlocking), but nothing they can't handle, especially since it's about to go into a phase where it sits dormant for a while (free hits!) before it respawns.

Oh, uh, well... it respawned about 10% left. And got an instant free attack. And it happened to target the bomb I was escorting. Yanno, before I could set either of my tanks to block or taunt. (And for extra suffering: The game lets you rewind one combat turn per run. Except on death.)

...At least dying this way gave some unique dialogue?

Convict went nuts after being denied parole. I knew it could happen, but this is actually the first time I remember seeing an incident like this. Guy kills his lawyer, then almost kills the parole officer, a dog, and two guards before he surrendered. With a pen. Which I assume he grabbed from the parole hearing room.

He was a MinSec prisoner 6 years into an 8-year sentence for assault. Now it's a 33-year prison sentence, and I've assigned him as SuperMax security. He has unknown reputation, but it's not hard to guess that it's probably (Super) Tough or Strong.

I'm trying Circadian Dice again. The best way to play is definitely to wait until you've forgotten the strategy, then try to clear what you had left (moonstone, chaos, or hard mode).

Anyone have any advice? I'm dying due to lack of health. I tried the 4 tools that help with captures (start with traps on 2nd and 4th dice, traps are replaced with talons and have +20% chance, talons pierce, and one other one).

On Circadian Dice some good item combo is onk's lockpicks + chest plate (so there is more chests appearing, and every time you break a chest you gain another attack symbol in a random dice, that can add up to a lot if you're lucky for some devastating attacks)
after that there's the always excellent witch knife for the cursed attack (and enemy cursed dying give you red gem and health , so particularly awesome on the Barbarian that has a lot of use for red gems) , and in combination to the other 2 items the curse can also break a chest if it's left at 1 health in a turn while cursed.

Hard mode is super hard, as enemy are more resistant (and with some annoying new abilities) so you need to killl them as fast as possible , that is difficult with some class and impossible if you don't use some strong item combination.

I did that, then got an ability called "berserker tactics", which increases the damage multiplier by the number of red gems I have (4). 5x damage on multiple-attack things means more chests, which means more attack... I did 90 axe damage. I still died because it's the final mission (a disease from early on spread and killed me), but it was crazy fun while it lasted.

Managing the detonate ability (that comes with one of the chest-focused items) is also very important, as it will destroy a chest and damage nearby enemies (or chest) , depending on how much health the detonated chest had it can easily destroy nearby enemies/chests.
This can be fantastic when some enemies have annoying abilities and you don't have enough attack power to kill them all in the same round (so before they can use their abilities).

Touched spikes.

Man, I don't know why I was afraid that Mega Man 11 was going to be dumbed down for modern audiences and be too easy.  I've never played a Mega Man game that was too easy, with maybe Mega Man 8 being the easiest, but still challenging at times.

I got a game over 3 times on the first stage I picked, which was Block Man's stage.  I got a game over while fighting him as one of those, when he had 1 HP left, too.  I haven't been this infuriated over a video game in a while, and decided to put it down after getting a 4th game over in the next stage I picked, which was Acid Man's stage.

One thing I learned a bit too slowly is that the game really wants you to use that fancy double gear system, and speed gear in particular.  If you don't, many stage hazards are very difficult or impossible to overcome.  I'm used to playing Mega Man games without special weapons or abilities, so this is a bit jarring.

It also doesn't help that holding the controller like I'm used to while taking advantage of speed gear is is awkward... it's difficult to hold the charge button down while having my thumb over the jump button and have my finger over the speed gear button, at least when using the joycons alone.  Maybe it's easier when they're attached to the frame controller or Switch directly, but my index finger doesn't want to stay over the R button when I'm doing that, and it's a difficult bit of muscle memory to overcome.

Lowered the difficulty, but it seems that ship difficulty isn't tied to that. Or it uses wealth rather than ship strength, and as I said before my wealth is being massively inflated by something.

Have to keep reloading because I've got two plasma turrets and two laser turrets (regular sized, not cruiser or capital ship) and the game sends ships with 10 weapons and huge heatsinks at me.

Had a small army of dinosaurs I was walking to a cave on ragnorok. 5 raptors 8 dilo, and 2 Allosaurus. The allo and raptors averaged around level 50, the dilos were between 180 and 260 (happened to tame a high level breeding pair).  I was mounted on the highest level allo so I had pack leader bonus.  Cave was on the center north side, I poked my head in once and found it was really dark, only went in long enough to confirm that it was indeed a proper dungeon cave and not just some random hole in the ground.  Before returning to fetch my army.

Found a big carnivore dinosaur on the way there that I never saw before.  I did not recognize the name but it was only level 25, so I figured my army of smaller dionos would tear it to shreds in seconds just like it did everything big on the way there.

It was a Acrocanthosaurus.  it has special abilities.  First it does extra damage to anything smaller than it. My biggest dino, the Allosaurus I was riding, was half it's size.  Second it goes into shield mode where it takes reduced damage and if hit enough while in shield mode it enrages and gets doubled attack speed.  I did not know any of this, I simply expected it to be about the strength of a T-Rex I had taken out easily earlier in the march.

It destroyed me. 3 of the level 150+ dilos and one of the raptors died in a single attack, but immediately after that I beleive it went into shield mode because it stopped attacking as much, which I thought was because it was bleeding from my Allosaurus's special attack. Then after a second it roared and got it's enrage. Next attack the lower level allosaurus died along with most of the remaining dilos, next the remaining raptors were toast, then the highest level dilo the lv 260. then after a few back and fourth hits my mounted allosaurus died, at which point I hit the ground running but eventually turned into it firing my gun when it became clear I couldn't outrun it on foot, and I was hoping to get inside it's attack range, didn't work.

Came back a little later on my griffon to collect my corpse and look up what that was that killed me, griffon baited it into falling off a cliff so I could get my stuff.  Now it's stomping around the beach giving the giant dinosaur turtles a hard time.

Are we counting the Megaman metroidvanias and Battle Network games? Because I can actually play those for more than fifteen minutes before a rising urge to defenestrate something takes over.

Mild annoyance rather than death, but I discovered that large steam components can only be placed in keyboard placement mode, not in mouse placement mode. Keyboard mode is awkward as hell for me to use and seems geared towards people with controllers... on a game that doesn't have controller support(that I know of).

I still haven't actually gotten the components to connect. I might have them upside down, but I don't have time to check right now.

I never played the Battle Network games, but I will rescind my statement to say that Mega Man Legends was probably one of the least frustrating games of the series that I played.  Certainly no intensely frustrating platforming moments, at least.

I want to say that Mega Man 7 is the sweet spot for me, since its levels aren't overly difficult for the most part, but then I recall how difficult the final boss is, and I've played it so much I'm probably just biased to think the game is easier than 11.

Why is that when people talk about mega man, nobody ever talks about mega man X. There were some great games in that side series.
