I still suck at Circadian Dice and die halfway to the boss, or curb stomp everything. No middle ground. I'm still in early game, and haven't unlocked any of the more interesting items.

I died again with the ninja, because I don't have enough attack (or any defense), and can't kill things before they kill me. I do use the "stun all enemies" special ability, but it only helps so much when you do 1 damage per turn.

Hasn't somebody made a mod to skip all that crap? I know one exists at least for Skyrim, heck IIRC an alternate intro script is literally part of a modding tutorial.

If the devs of most games were less impressed with their storytelling ability, they'd let you skip the intros to most games, at least on the second playthrough on. Instead it's "you want to play a 300th time? Press W to move forward...........Good........Now try moving left and right using A and D................" like you've never played a video game before.

I remember in older games like the original Deus Ex the tutorial was a main menu option and you could play it if you wanted or just skip it. It'd be cool if we could go back to that model.

Don't worry, there is some level of luck involved in the game , died countless times with a same class before beating the same scenario :D

I started running every character through the bandits and vampires, and 10 stars on each character has helped with unlocks, at least. Also, it gave enemies all mutations.

Edit: This game would be significantly better if it let you know when you had unused attack dice.

Edit2: Trying the Dungeonmans (already a game whose difficulty is based on "your next character gets a bonus based on how well you did") Weekly Challenge. It's probably excessive, but the misidentifying items is pretty entertaining.

I got back into War Thunder again, for no better reason than to not let my Xbox Live go to waste.

Since I got some faster planes and developed a strategy of diving on opponents, I don't get outran as often by other fighters. On the other hand, I find it very easy to crash into them, or overshoot and get shot down myself.

War Thunder.

I found a room with a steam engine and though it would raise a ladder.
But even increasing it's heat to maximum did not do that.

Instead, an emergency valve vented steam to prevent boiler explosion. Whoever designed it was crazy though, as it vented the superheated steam into the operator room. Just before that, I noticed that the room was actualy a hall and I did not need to mess with the boiler. Too late though.

I've actually seen really stupid circulation designs like that before in real buildings, though not quite as hazardous as a boiler valve... on the list include a self-circulating kitchen hood, a bathroom that had a floor intake that blew it straight down on top of the toilet, and, not circulation but my favorite: A functional fireplace done in !!pine and styrofoam!!

I am trying to get good at games I already own, because what else am I going to do? So I tried to practice Dungeonmans. In a run-up to an Ironman playthrough (the academy is deleted if you die, so your items don't get passed to future characters), I've been playing a self-imposed challenge to have each character make it to a higher level than the previous character.

First try I died at levels 5, 6, 9, and 7 (right after killing a boss, a lizard came around the corner and threw a boulder at me). Second attempt I died at levels 3, 5, and 4. No special challenges or anything, I just apparently forgot how to play or something?

To be fair, that would function as a place for a fire.

I finished Unreal 2. Why is this in this thread? Well... I wish I hadn't played at all. It's just... it's a bad game. Not even hilarious bad, just kind of shitty.

Yeah, I think the plot of the first Unreal was something like "you're on a planet, shoot some aliens." I'm not sure how they convinced anyone to let them make a sequel.

Made it to wave 34-35 of the arena before finally going down. Triggered a bug with the game over menu that caused me to fall back into the arena, now immortal, and I finished the wave out before going back to town.

Playing Monster Hunter World, and got the first mission of the second area. Escort quest, follow this cart for a bit, being introduced to the fauna of the new place.

Get to the end, and then a cutscene of a big beastie crashing through a wall. Expect the game to say “cool, now leave the area with the dudes you’re escorting” because every time I ran into the big beastie of the first area it told me to leave it, but it was all “nah bro, kill it with your weapon you’ve upgraded one time.”

So I fainted once ‘cause I was trying to hit it and I was bouncing off, not really knowing what I should be doing.

Evidently I was hitting the wrong part, but oh well, I broke its tail, its face and I think both its legs by the time I killed it.

I do enjoy sharpening my weapon in the middle of a fight, it’s oddly entertaining.

Sounds perfectly normal to me. On the other hand, I played hammer (and later Ala LS, for the raw DPS for speedrunning) on MH3, so everything ended up with shattered bodyparts. Unless it was changed, some "secret" parts are available only through breaking parts.

I’m not entirely sure how it works, but you can only obtain certain things by breaking parts. I think.

I’m using Dual Swords, because wtf even is blocking anyway.

The execution of Unreal 1, overly dark areas aside, good enough that the story could be ignored. So it's not surprising it spawned a whole series (mostly with the Tournament brand). Unreal 2 was pawned off to a contracted studio, though, and some research tells me that roughly 50% of the game was cut before release.
