Playing KSP with the mod that adds guns and AIs. I had created a tank and made it team B for some shinanigans against other tanks.   I forgot I left it at the Space center.

Few days later I try to launch a fancy airship made with another mod.  It plops down on the runway beautifully.  But for some reason it keeps blowing up a few seconds after I start the engines.

On the 3rd attempted launch I figure out what is happening as a tank shell is spotted flying through the gap between the balloon and gondola.  It seems the crappy little turret I placed on the zeppelin and the guard AI set to activate on engine start was causing the little 'Team B' tank I left out in the field go "OMG enemy!  Shoot it! Shoot it! Shoot it!" And blow everything I was trying to launch away.

Kerbal Space Program.

(I eventually took that as a challenge, created another tank designed to survive a hit and blow the other tank away instead of taking the easy way out and recovering it)

Some spoilers led to a fight with four Brotherhood Paladins in a tiny space. It wasn't exactly fair, even with my dinky metal armor all repaired and breaking out the grenade launcher for the occasion. It took my entire supply of very expensive Stimpacks (and four attempts) to survive, which was very annoying.

It doesn't really feel like I'm getting any more powerful in this game. Although I'm level 20, the only things I can stomp reliably are mole rats and other little critters. Most of the raiders, ghouls, and other creatures FUCKING MIRELURKS I take on seem to have just levelled up alongside me, gaining hitpoints and better weapons at the same rate I do.

Fallout: New Vegas.

So not really a death, but: I got the little notice that my controller battery was low, so I went to plug in my USB cable to charge it.  I poorly chose the power button as the point to brace the console while plugging the cable in. 

About 45 minutes of Fallout 3 progress lost...

Weapons deal a lot of damage, and armor only helps a bit in this regard.

I'm pretty sure headshots kill everyone in a single hit (except in the case of shotshells).

In some co-op situations, people get swarmed with enemies. This actually happened in one Embassy Survival mission, I became the last man standing and I wound up getting the "Silent but Deadly" achievment before finally dying to another five insurgents.

Enemies on both sides (Security and Insurgent) will occasionally turn up wielding rocket launchers for their respective factions. These provide an opportunity for an entire team to get damaged or even killed all at once. The rockets also fly quite fast and can easily catch an unsuspecting player (e.g. me) unawares.

The clothing Insurgents and Security wear can appear rather similar at times, leading to confusion as to HEY FRIENDLY WHY IS THIS MAN SHOOTING ME?

Me panicking and spraying right above the enemy's head has lead to many a lost gunfight. And in a game like this, lost gunfights = your team slowly crumbling.

Mr. House wants me to kill off the Brotherhood of Steel by destroying their bunker at Hidden Valley. But this means choosing between Mr. House and Veronica. I think I'm already past the point of no return between NCR/Legion/House, so it's either go along with House or nominate myself for the position.

If there's anything I've learned from Fallout, it's that the old ways are bad. Traditions, hand-me-downs and remnants of the old world cause almost all the problems in the post-apocalypse, whether it's the Enclave plotting to kill off the wasteland or plain old feuds standing in the way of prosperity for everyone. Mr. House says it best: "If you want to see the results of democracy, look outside the windows."

The NCR's failing leadership (according to House) and loose, scattered grip on the Mojave wasteland doesn't sound like the foundation for a shining future. They're only people, and people suck. I've helped them out as best I could, but they're not the way forward. No need to mention the Legion, they're just puffed-up raiders.

Maybe an immortal god-machine at the head of an invincible robot empire is what's needed. Peace enforced with extreme prejudice. House hasn't done anything evil (thus far in my game) unless you count preemptive strikes against known enemies, even the underhanded attack on the Brotherhood of Steel. If the roles were reversed and the Brotherhood were in power, I'd still pick House. The Legion, NCR and Brotherhood would just be plain tyrants; House is an immortal, benevolent tyrant with a plan reminiscent of the Golden Path from Dune.

I could kill Mr. House and take over the joint, but I have no idea if I could turn myself into a Mr. House-like being. House's basic immortality is the lynchpin of his scheme, and his scheme is the one I like (with some caveats, but you take what you can get).

I really like Veronica. I thought she'd forsaken the Brotherhood enough that I could murder all her family and friends, but I guess not. I like having her around, and not just for the OP melee damage or the fact she carries all the heavy shit I'll never use.

If you have (and start) the Old World Blues DLC, your character becomes a (possibly?) immortal cyborg person, so there is that.

They also have their brain removed, so there is a downside.

He passed his Speech checks against me.

He says that he's not interested in legislating or ruling over what people do; hell, he let a trashy slum grow around the Strip and keeps a whorehouse across the street from his palace. He needs customers for the safety and luxury that he offers, he doesn't get that by melting his consumer base with lasers or strangling them with an iron fist. He's allied with the Boomers for Hoover Dam and only nukes the Omertas because they're planning an attack on the Strip.

"Extreme paranoia" is what happens when you have a cautious, calculating leader, who's also a computer and has an army of robots and nothing but time to plan. The NCR sure wouldn't pass up assassination if it meant life or death for the state.

I made it past the communist threat, avoided my parents' fate and got inside the vault. Using my lockpicking skills and technical aptitude, I repaired the Vault's security robot, unsealed the generator room and turned on the life support.

However, with nothing to do but spend the rest of my life in the Vault, wearing a T51 power helmet over a leather jacket, talking to the same three NPCs for eternity, listening to the incessant rattle of the ventilation system...

I pressed Ctrl + K, unravelling the very fabric of the universe to free myself from this existential torment.

Van Buren, the unreleased Fallout 3 that came before the "real" Fallout 3. Don't know if it would count as abandonware or what, but it's trivially easy to find yourself.
