Touhou 6: EoSD

Kinda impressed I made it this far on my first run. Still have no idea what I'm doing or even how big my hitbox is. Undertale's completely heart-shaped hitbox[You can even completely evade one bosses' attack by abusing it] has spoiled me, because whatever thing makes me die is completely different from what my spritey magical girl icon looks like.

If I remember correctly, the hitbox is located around the player's waist/hips? I think. It's just a dot, no funny hitbox shape gimmicks.

The largest bullets usually don't have hitboxes to match - they're usually a good deal smaller. The "bubble" bullets are actually completely safe right until the part where they're clear, although I wouldn't try to test this.

Remember to press X if you're in a tight spot. That'll save you. You get 3 bombs with each death, regardless of how many you had before, so don't waste them!

Also, besides getting rid of all bullets on the screen, bombs turn those bullets into points. It's a bad idea to bomb during a Spell Card though, since the bonus from surviving a Spell Card is usually much higher than the points you get from bombing. Of course, a Spell Card is when you're most likely to need a bomb, hence conflict, gameplay, etc.

Also, bombs use up your power. In Scarlet Devil, you can suck up all bonus items if you touch the top of the screen... but only if you're at full power. AFAIK, one bomb consumes one full point of power.

Oh boy lots of advice. I'll try and remember it and will probably look some stuff up. There's nothing more confusing then playing a game you don't know the rules to. It doesn't help that the menu screen is borked fifty ways from sunday on my pathetic potato screen[Although the game proper works just fine].

Oh, wow. This advice helps a lot. The "Move more slowly" thing is really really helpful for dodging HELLA PROJECTILES. Thanks, everybody~! Beside whoever told me about going near the top to collect ALL THE THINGS. That only helps get me killed.

On-topic:

The Library is kicking my ass. The boss isn't THAT bad[No worse then Hong Meirei], but the stage preceding her...

Utterly ridiculous amounts of bullets[In annoying directions and sizes]. I used more bombs here then on all the previous bosses combined. I've gone from six lives to one life before fighting the midboss here. And Patchouli is quite deadly when I have no resources whatsoever.

So what exactly was the point of that maze in the Malkavian mansion? I thought I was stumbling on to something cool, what with the sunshine temple and the moving mannequins and all, but then I wound up back outside the maze with only a couple of minor vendor trash items to show for it.

The doctor skill is one of the easier ones to increase. You just need to be awful bastard to do it...

Does the doctor have any health issues? Old, maimed or sick colonists can get massive skill penalties.
