I chose option C.

I then one lifed the entire mission with just my good friend Golden Minigun, Golden Autoshotgun, and Golden Bullpup Rifle.

Then I got shot by a dude I swear was dead as I was running to help Michael.

Goddamnit.

Dead horse kicking, but this is my favourite mainstream game of the last ~5 years.

Goddammit Peter. Why can't you stay behind lines and command your lances in safety like modern leaders?
Curse the 31st Century and its demodernised tactics.

Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries. It's not fun trying to babysit a Davion in an assault, but I guess it's better than all those cursed escort missions in the Steiner route.

Odd, if that's the last mission of the campaign, then I've never had trouble with keeping Peter alive. They keep shooting at me instead.

Same here.  Also, what's the right way to get the game currently?  It used to be legitimately free as part of that Mektek thing, but their site doesn't seem to be serving it up anymore.  It's not on GoG or Steam.  My family loved MW4 Mercenaries, we never played Vengeance though so that could be fun (if more linear, I guess?).

It was just bad luck, honest. Plus the mission was the one before where you have to trod through many stars of Assaults including delicious Daishis and Fafnirs.
I ended up just giving up, selling all the mediums, lights and heavies and buying as many good assaults I could get my hands on, and just piling LBXAC10s on in a style that made me doublethink about being a Davion.

There may or may not be a download for Mercenaries on the game's MODDB, and it might be possible that it has the patches and all that for Mektek.
(probably won't last long so you should probably make a mad rush to download it.)
Vengeance is fun. There is an important choice in the penultimate mission but Black Knight completely negates the good choice. :(

Yes there's a download on ModDB, thanks!
It's officially freeware so I could have just found a torrent, but was curious as to whether I missed an obvious source.  Looking forward to playing it again.

Long DND story about my cohort dying twice:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

My holy divine spellcaster did well in a massive two-way undead battle.  Just as I ran out of high-level spells, the nearly-dead enemy necromancer surrendered to the other necromancer (a neutral lich who is on our side for complicated reasons).  The DM was just getting into their banter when our party wizard, understandably frustrated at having missed most of the fight, arrived and disintegrated the enemy necromancer without a word.  The remnants of his army started swarming, which unfortunately included a pack of shadows in range of me.  My holy Favored Soul of Glittergold received 24 strength damage in one round, dying instantly and becoming a shadow himself.

The "cursed" reincarnation scroll rolled half-goblin for race, but maybe Glittergold (god of gnomes) would have understood.  But then I rolled "Reverse Alignment" on special effects.  So yeah...  Neutral Evil half-goblin.  We eventually decided that instead of channeling Glittergold's divine magic, I'm now an arcane sorcerer channeling from the plane of shadow.

The sad thing is this probably won't change our overall strategy much.  Characters have alignments, but all players are Chaotic Evil.

Oh my god fuck this game

It's fun when you have two diverse teams that work together with precision to complete objectives. It's not fun when you have everyone and their fucking brother on the enemy team playing vanguard + greatsword and sprint + instakill'ing into you every five seconds.

Seriously, I can't do fucking shit, because I get swarmed by these chucklefucks every time and my team can do nothing but lmb right into me, killing me almost as much as the fucking vanguards do.

Ah, DnD. I've always wanted to play that. Hopefully I'll be playing with a friend who is going to be a GM.
Gonna play a Dwarven rogue suffering from a hangover, tormented by a possessed keg of rum. GM's idea, that last one. I wonder how fun it will be!

Using Gravitation Potions to fly, searching for clouds. I found one of the two items I was looking for: a Guarding Horseshoe, which completely negates fall damage.

I start looking for more clouds as it's getting dark. I found one. While upside-down. At full speed.

I also forgot to equip the Horseshoe.

So, playing XCOM Enemy Within for the first time. On Ironman, because it makes the game more enjoyable for me.

Those cinematic kill moves are annoying when the enemy does them. They are able to ignore that you'd survive with a sliver of health to go straight to your death.

Skyrim

Get a killcam mod like the Dance of Death. You can disable enemy killmoves.

Skyrim

Especially with the dragons, who can[No matter your armour or health or whatever] always instakill you if you're in front of them at half health or lower. Or when you get fus ro dahhed, you lose control of your character and ragdoll to the ground, and you THINK you just died and reload, but it turns out you just got knocked over.
